Common problem with 06 jettas. The power supply wire(s) to the driver side door have broken due to them being a tad too short when manufactured. When the door is opened up all the way it stretches and flexes the wire in the harness, eventually breaking them. If you remove the harness boot between the door and the door frame you'll notice one or more wires broken. I soldered in a small extention between the broken wire ends and tucked it all back inside the boot, fixed my problem. If you don't know WTF you are doing with a soldering gun... hire someone to fix it, it's pretty tight clearances.

I appear to have an electrical problem. First my battery kept draining. I thought it was a problem with the radio so i pulled the radio fuse for a couple of days. Now as i drive it the drivers door (open) light comes on and wont go off. Today i went to get gas and the electric gas cap opener wont work.

Where is the radio fuse? I killed my battery, jumped it, now the radio has no power.

I have a 2005 1/2 VW jetta. That is when they came out with the new one. There is a module in the drivers door that operated the power windows, trunk lid and the gas cap compartment. The trunk can be...

A lot of cars had a pull in the trunk or somewhere close to the filler door just for this purpose, look around or check the manual for the pull, It is usually bright yellow and marked fuel filler, check it out, hope this helps.

This sounds like a bad control or broken wire inside the door, you will need to remove the door panel and check for broken wires, also remove the controls and make sure all connectors are connected good and tight, this is where i would start also just check all of the fuses.

I'd look for a bad wire in loom that runs from pillar to door at hinge area.

2006 Jetta TDI Electrical!!!

There is a known issue with the wiring harness in the doors. It's possible that the passenger door also has a bad harness (assuming they swapped out the one in the driver's door) Is that a correct assumption? It may still be related to your original problem too. I've heard of disconnecting the battery for 20 minutes to reset the electrical (door switches). You should def give that a try - it's free.
Also check out the forums at - those guys know their VW TDI's...

2008 EOS fuel door wont open

There should be an emergency release option inside your trunk. It will either be in very close proximity to the fuel door, or the cable that leads to the fuel door release will allow you to turn the adapter where it goes through the metal into the fuel door.
