How to repair

i'd think that the vent adjuster knob/slider is not working correctly strip out the heater panel around the control knobs and check the vent direction is working properly either stiff operation so a little wd40 on the cable would probably do the trick or some thing causing the vent itself to not move

The ac on my 1998 ford ranger only blows out the defrost vent and floor vent. How do I fix it?

Almost sounds like the actuators are inop. depending on which style you have, some are electrical motors and some are vacuum. These control the mode doors which move to deflect air to various vents.

My pontiac grand prix is a 1995 the air works fine but will only blow threw floor and defrost vents how can i get it to blow threw dash vents

Vacuum vents not working: Your vent controller is not working. Is theair coming out the defrost vents? If yes, this is the default when there is novacuum to the switch. In this case, check the small plastic vacuum line that isconnected to the engine intake manifold and going into the firewall. Make surethis line is connected to the manifold and the hose is not cracked. If this isgood, go inside the car and see if you can trace that line to the control switch. If theline is good to the switch, see if you can pull the vacuum connector from theswitch for troubleshooting. with the engine on, check for vacuum on the linefrom the engine with your finger. If the vacuum is there, your switch isprobably leaking and needs to be replace. Any other questions, please reply.

Ac and heat will not blow threw vents just floor and defrost

Sounds like your selector switch is messed up to select where you want the flow of air to go. When you turn the switch to where you want the air to go does it work on floor and when you turn the switch to vent it doesn't?

Problem with air not coming out of vents.

Check for a vacum leak from the engine to the a/c.The color of the hose is black. Also check if the heater control valve hose is unplugged. If you have vacuum the it sounds like the door for the vent/floor/defrost is broken.
