Question about 2003 Cadillac CTS
I had a similiar problem with my 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix. It turned out to be a sensor in the gear shift that let the car know it was in park and to release the key so it can be removed. I would try looking there

Check if the key is broken, otherwise check the car's safety systems. If the battery has been discharged, the electronic vehicle immobilizer can be activated. Try to reconnect the battery and then take out the key=) Good Luck, Regards David.
