Well,
It depends upon the enviroment the truck is stationed in. If you did not drain the truck before parking it for a long time. It tends to block intake valves etc.

If I put diesel in my Ford Fusion 2008 instead of regular gas, is there a chance that the fuel pump shut-off switch kicked in? Because when I go to start it the engine cranks but does not start. Help!

Diesel in petrol car This is far less common as the diesel nozzle is physically larger than the petrol filler neck on most cars.

Do not turn over the engine!

Diesel in petrol can cause serious damage - particularly to direct injection (GDI) petrol engines.

You will need to flush the fuel tank and the fuel line system.

I have a kia sedona 2004 2.9 diesel, i punctured the fuel filler neck lost all fuel repaired it and managed to get me home but on way home em light lit wont start now unless i rapid pump primer help

Sounds like you have damaged the fuel tank mounted fuel pickup pump. The pump is cooled and lubricated by the fuel it is immersed in, so when you lost all the fuel you likely ruined the pump.

2001 Rodeo 2.8 Turbo Diesel running perfectly one day won't run the next. Seems to be after it sits for a couple of days. Any suggestions?

Hi Peter, If the vehicle turns on the starter all the time, and sometimes starts and other times fails, check the fuel filter for leakage. Sometimes air gets into the fuel system. When it gives problems, open the bonnet (hood) and have someone pump the pump on top of the filter housing. If it feels soft when beginning to pump, I would suspect either a leakage on the fuel line or the filter housing. If you need to replace the housing and filter, remember to fill the replacement filter with clean diesel fuel first. the glow plugs can also cause problems if one or more have burned out. You must drain and refill the fuel tank. Some of these systems use optical sesnors in the injection pump and can be damaged not to mention the damage to the pistons and valves. Great trucks. Drain the tank.

They all have to sit for a minute because of the glow plugs. Some diesel don't send power to the starter until the glow plugs run for the pre-determined amount of time. There are many things that could be causing this. Fuel filter, clogged injectors, fuel pump going bad or bad connection to fuel pump.

do yourself a favor and take the truck to a fuel diesel injection shop the larger nut is just a cover but the smaller one is an adjustment if you remove either on you could damage the pump

1999 dodge ram 3500 cummings turbo diesel will not start.

Diesel engines fire on compression alone (usually 400psi).The Truck may have air trapped in the fuel system. When you perform any fuel system repair on a diesel it is going to take alot of cranking to get the air out. You can take the breather loose and shoot a VERY small amount of starter fluid in the intake and it should start. Do not use starting fluid much as it can damage the engine. Good Luck.

All 1.5dci engines (Renault, Dacia and Nissan) use Delphi fuel injector systems. These particular Delphi fuel pumps are very sensitive to the quality of diesel you use (oil quality and level in the engine seems to be a factor, too). Once the pump is damaged internally (partial or total seizure) fine metal dust from the pump gets into the system and damages one or more injectors. If you act early (while the engine still runs) you may get away with replacing the pump and the fuel filter. However, once the dust spreads around, you need to replace the entire fuel system, including the fuel tank. To prevent this from happenning (to a fuel pump that is not yet damaged) you need to use quality diesel with low sulphur content (diesel made out of Russian or Venezuelan oil have usually high sulphur content), diesel additives (STP, Castrol, Wynns or similar) and change engine oil and oil filter at least every 15,000km/12months (Nissan uses this shorter service interval and their 1.5 dci cars seem to have much less problems with fuel injection systems).

(TOYOTA SURF 1990 TURBO DIESEL) No diesel coming out of fuel pump

If it has glow plugs or an intake heater you will need to disable the circuit. Then you can use a small amount of ether to spray into the air cleaner.!!! If you spray too much and/or Dont disable the circuits you can damage the motor!!! When you spray the ether, if the engine starts and stalls then its not getting fuel. This could be related to the fuel pump, injection pump, the fuel system loosing its prime(fuel line leak), fuel shut-off valve or solenoid. If it doesn't start then it could be related to your timing, valves or maybe compression.
