All standard vehicles have a neutral safety switch for many decades so people won`t try starting them in gear causing damage or hurting someone. it maybe open. its located at the base of the clutch pedal and as you push on the pedal all the way down it closes the switch to allow power to start the car. its a 2 wire switch so you can jump the 2 wires and see if the car will start. make sure the car is in neutral.

If you find the switch, you can temporarily jump across it, 'till you get a new one. When you go to buy it you are looking for a clutch switch.
Neutral switches are found on automatic trans vehicles. If you jump it out, be VERY careful to make sure you start in neutral with the clutch depressed as without the switch, it will start in any gear even with the clutch engaged.

Hi:
The clutch safety switch is mounted up above the clutch pedal arm, near the pivot point.
Testimonial: "Thanks Bud, I wasn't sure and I had heard it was mounted inside the trany. Have a Great Day !"

check the starter solenoid and the starter connections. if either of them burned up the car wouldnt start.... wait... is it turning over or no? if not then check your power transistor unit on the passenger side timing cover. could also cause it to not start..

Hello mtripp: My name is Roger and I will answer your question. The neutral safety switch is located on a bracket directly above the clutch pedal. Should have two wires that plug into it. One should be white with a blue tracer and the other wire should be black with white tracer. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer you received as this way i know it was helpful. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger
(electricity) An electric switch that is connected to the ignition switch of an internal combustion engine and prevents starting the engine unless the transmission shift lever is in the neutral or park position, or the clutch pedal is depressed.
Might try tilting the steering wheel up or down and starting in different positions, maybe loose wire in tilt.
