SOURCE: fitting new ignition barrel series 3 1996 316i

It is a very small hole in the switch cylinder. About the size of a paperclip or maybe a bit thicker. It is to reset the ignition. If that does not work. you may have to replace the switch. try using aa paperclip or someting to push into the hole. Being vcareful not to force it too much. So it won't break inside.

SOURCE: bmw 316 ABS light stays on

Your ABS systems use a combination of electronic and hydraulic systems to modulate the brakes individually to prevent them from locking up. Antilock systems consist of wheel speed sensors, a hydraulic control unit (HCU), and an electronic control unit (ECU). Because of how complex the system is your computer does a self-test. If the check is successful, the ANTILOCK and BRAKE lights will go out within a few seconds. If one or more of the component of the ABS system fails to pass one or both lights will remain lit, the system will shut down and set a code. The code itself does not tell exactly what component is defective - it only indicates where to look, or what parameter is out of normal range. You or a technician will have to perform further testing to pinpoint cause and the proper repair. Even if you reset the light, if the underlying problem is not addressed it will come back on.

SOURCE: my central locking for my bmw 316 is not working

inside the door panel on top of the switch is a little micro switch which is depressed by a cam on the top of the lock barrel, this switch can sometimes be dislodged by slamming the door, check it out with an avo meter or test lamp if it is still in place.

I was changing the timing chain of a 1998 318 e46 but seem to have lost the timing as it just cranks. how do i identify the tdc?

The time consuming but correct way would be to remove the valve cover so that you can view the number "1" piston and rotate your crank shaft until it is absolutely top dead center..Other than that I would check all the sprk plug wire connections to ensure all connections are as they should be

Need serpentine belt diagram for 1994 bmw 325i

Below are diagrams for both the M44 and the M50 engines. On the M44, you may need to hold the tensioner in the retracted position with a drill bit or hex tool through the hole in the front of the tensioner. The belt tensioner is automatic so no tightening is necessary. Best of luck!
