2004 jetta replaced head, head gasket, and timing belt replaced

2004 jetta replaced head, head gasket, and timing belt reinstalled everything else but now the damn car wont start any ideas out there on why?

Use the master key.replcd eng in a Audi TT eng would not start swapped keys started right up!!!!

Water in spark plugs


Is the plug really clean? That usually means the cylinder head gasket failed. You would need to remove the cylinder head. (valve cover, intake manifold, timing belt/chain) clean off the mating sufaces, inspect mating sufaces for truness, possibly have them machined, install new head gasket, bolt down head to correct tourque, reinstall timing belt/chain, intake manifold, (install all new gaskets) and valve cover. It's a lot harder than it sounds, usually. Call at least 4 local mechs for a quote to replace head gasket on your car. Just a gasket kit alone could cost 90 to 300 bucks depending on your model. This is a major job. Google head gasket and your model and year , you may fiind youtube videos for you exact model or similar.

Car wont start. rplaces head gasket, spark plus distributor cap.


Its possible that your timing is off since you removed the head and distributor cap, and probably the timing belt. The camshaft, crankshaft and distributor need to be aligned exactly right relative to each other for the timing to be correct. The engine will not start if everythings not aligned right.

Are you sure that you set the timing correctly after you reinstalled the cylinder head?

check the oil if it has a milky color to it then its a head gasket the engines were aluminum so if they over heat they usually warped the head

I have a Jetta GLS that is misfiring we did a tune up replace spark plugs and wires and still doing it once on a while not all the time.


My 2004 Jetta GLI had same problem. I took it to the dealer and they informed me of Recall# 28F3 to replace the ignition coils. Replaced and fixed problem at no cost. Of course, that was until they also recommended a timing belt, tensioner, water pump replacement ($923); camshaft adjuster seal and valve cover gasket seeping ($496); and electrical cooling fan replaced ($357)... maybe so, but freakin dealers :-)

It may cost you $500 to $800, depending where and how your car has to be fixed.
Replacing a cylinder head gasket is a miss or a hit. In some cases, just replacing the gasket may work. But if the cylinder head is bent, dealer may ask to replace it, because "machined aluminum heads rarely works". In this case the cost may be more than $1000. It is a good idea to send the cylinder head for inspection, in a machine shop. They charge $150 for inspecting, checking, cleaning and if necessary machining the head.
If the timing belt will be replaced this is an extra cost. If someone will just replace the gasket, on a bent cylinder head, it is more likely to blow out again. This problem can be solved if the gasket be replaced properly, checking and taking care for the cylinder head too. I can't do it from the internet. If you decide to do it by yourself, or by someone who can help you, then Haynes Repair Manual on line for $20 is a must, and some tools for $100.
With help you can do it during a week end. One day to dismantle, and another day to put things back. Be patient and pay attention to details.
Everything is in the manual. If you will replace the timing belt too, and i encourage you to do it, there is only one thing missing in the manual, and i will tell you.
To put on the timing belt, align marks, mount first the belt around the crank pulley, and after to the overhead cam. Rotate fully the belt two times (drive selector in NEUTRAL), and check the timing marks. You will be one tooth off. The reason is the belt tensioner. Remove the belt, move the off timing pulley one tooth in opposite direction and install the belt. You have to repeat this procedure till after two full rotation of the belt, the MARKS ALIGN. 2004 jetta timing belt is missing teeth and jumped timing it is not working anymore but it didn't break do you think there is valve damage


For sure. Make sure you have the proper torquing sequence for your engine BEFORE you tear it apart. The head has to be taken off in the reverse sequence for torquing or you run a high risk of cracking the head and buying a new one. Hope thishelps.

What is the recommended milage for a timing belt change on a 2004 Audi A6?


Hi

Audi recently increased the service interval on these belts from 60,000 to 80,000 miles. You cannot do a timing belt inspection - you must replace it at the specified interval due to the fact that a belt may look good but can still fail due to undetectable stressors in the belt itself when it reaches this mileage.

You do not say which engine variant you have in your car but 80,000 is now the general belt interval that is specified.

It's possible that while changing the head gasket you inadvertantly change the timing, check to make sure that the #1 cylinder if firing in th proper order,

what was it doing when the belt broke.... most times you just have the belt replaced and everything is fine.

I need to replace the valve cover gasket on my voltswagon jetta


you probably mean the valve head gasket.

In this case this is serious work and you should contact a local VW dealership or mechanic and have them do this work for you to insure a job well done. If you simply mean your Valve cover, then this is no big deal and can be done by taking out the 4 screws found at the corners of the valve cover and then simply lifting the cover free and replacing it with a new one/tightening the screws back down.
