Does my 1996 honda accord have a vehicle speed sensor

most old cars have a speedo cable.
is the odometer dead too. (we need that answer now)

there are 3 class evolutionary systems.
electric sender to cluster
and sender to PCM and PCM drives cluster.
but honda does this on diffr, dates than most cars. (i learned)

so lets do that. we login to and look , so can you at any time,
once a month i do random cars.
what engine, sometimes this varies by engine, and trans.
neither stated so Ill toss coin each time.
a/t trans.
has electronic (hall) speed sensor VSS and runs
engine, cruise. odometer and cluster.

the 96 has no speedo cable, and works in modern mode, very advance for this time
also any scan tool on earth fits the PCM scan port
and if VSS is dead, it tells you that with a DTC , vss dead.
saving all that work wondering why it dont work.
PCM must see it work
and cluster
and cruise
if only cluster fails, and both speedo and odometer then its bad.
if only speedo fails but not odometer , then speedo meter is bad.
its that easy.

Where is the odometer cable

There is no cable. The speedometer is electric. It is operated by a magnetic speed sensor that sends a signal to the computer. The computer, then, sends signal to the stepper motor that drives the speedometer. If your speedometer or odometer has stopped working, it would be an electrical issue or likely a bad speed sensor on the transmission.

Instructions on how to replace an odometer cable on a 1994 GMC Jimmy 4x4 with a V6 Vortec motor?

There is no cable,it is all electric. If your speedometer works but no odometer then you have a problem in the intrument cluster. If neither works then you have a vehilcle speed sensor problem which is in the tail housing of the transfer case.

Speedometer does not work. new speed sensor. if wiggle gauge will jump some and odometer will begin to turn but that is all that it will do. please help stumped

Unscrew the speed cable at the trany and take an electric drill and place it on the cable and spin the drill slowly to make sure you are going in the correct direction. Have someone watch while you do this to see if the speed odometer is working. If it isn't, you might consider disconnecting the cable at the odometer and turn it by hand to see if it is broke or not. If it is turning, your problem is in the odometer. Hope this helps.

Speed ometer and tack omiter dont work all outher gadges work

If was only techomeer would have suggested Alternator. as an option get that checked, can usually get it done free especially if you are a member of a motoring organisation.

Speedo is usually operated via a connection to your wheels so that connection may be damaged if you have 'bottomed out; your car anywhere.

I dont have a Windstar but i have a Saturn SL1 but its the exact same problem, my rpm's work but my speedometer dont and when i hae my lights on at night my odometer is lite up, and my radio i cant...

dear friend-if the speedometer is not and it is a dail type then remove the cable from the speed sensor.let somebody look at the dail take the cable in your hand and the inner piece between your fingers, spin that inner between your fingers oneway and if it is not working spin it in the other direction,if it wotks then the speed sensor is at fault,if not it could be the dail itself, the illumination lights on the radio is dead.

My speed odometer doesn't work most of the time. every now and then it will for a min. or too i have changed the speed sensor and plug, still nothing the odometer works in juction with the speed odometer...

There are two ways to repair problem. The first is find a used cluster at a salvage yard. This is the cheapest way ,but the mileage on the new cluster will not match your original mileage. The second way would be to remove the cluster and send to a repair facility.Check with your local GM dealer for the nearest repair facility.

My speed ometer and odometer dont work also my driver information

You;ll want to look for a cable that runs from the transmission into the firewall, this usually controls the speedometer and odometer, depending on the configuration. If it is an analog odometer/speedometer, this is most likely where your problem is. The other alternative to this is a speed sensor gear that meshes with the main ring gear in the transmission which drives this cable. If you have no experience with transmissions, changing the speed sensor gear would probably better be left to a mechanic. I have seen many of these cables wear, and develop rust, then your driving along, and they break in half, since the cable actually spins inside a plastic sleeve.
