What makes a 2003 pathfinder cut out at 2,300 rpm

Have you cleaned the throttle body ? Check the idle air control and passageway . What do you mean by not shifting above 1500 rpm ?

If you paid someone to do this work go back to them.
If You did it yourself, well, either Google possible answers or it may be time to go to an expert.
But first, have the computers scanned for fault codes.

Replace your MAF, its a little pricey around $280.00 or so but this will clear the code but make sure you have the ECM reprogrammed to perform a "learning" sequence since sometimes the code will not clear even though the vehicle will run like new. This reprogramming will most likely have to be a dealer performed procedure.

1999 cherokee has 195 HP, 230 lb ft Torque @ 3000 rpm, and is capable of towing 5,000 lb (2,300 kg).

ur having fuel supply or poor electrical supply problem thats why the engine cuts off underload/ check spark plugs or airflow meter condition as well....

yes dealer only ,chipped key ,you will never get it to start

Try getting a scan .. Sounds typical of a Stopped up catalytic converter.. Dont scan if check engine lite isnt on..
