it can only be 3 things.
1: no power to motor (12v not there active or is too low)
2: bad motor. 12v there its dead.
3: jammed up track overloading said motor.
a voltmeter solves #1 and 2 in seconds.

i have changed the whole sunroof on my mx6,old one was to rusted around edges.if your roof opens but not close it sounds like your motor is dying or your electrical connections to motor are in rough shape.you should be able to close your roof by pushing button and placing your hand in middle of roof and help by lighty pushing/guiding close. be sure roof is straight and not crooked or it will jam and burn out motor
I've got exactly the same problem. As suggested before checked the fuses, checked the brake light comes on don't know what could be the problem. Spoke to an independent porsche mechanic who says its probably a cable jam in the roof. £120 to unjam. I've got my doubts as there is no noise or anything its just dead!! Any joy with your roof any help would be most appreciated.
if ther is power to the roof power motors make sure that nothing is jaming anypart of the roof wher the roof gets stuck.also make sure the gears rolers & cables are well gresad & lubricated
replace softop control module assuming the repair facility did a good job. I would make sure you have power and ground to the unit. It is located in the r side storage compartment under plastic false floor. unplug unit for 30 seconds and reconnect and see if the unit begins to work. They do fail a lot.
