Check the DAS fuse in the engine compartment first. You will have to completly remove the fuse covering ( phillips screws ) to access the DAS fues. Blue 15A also does the steering wheel unlock during this process and ignition will not turn. Also do you have a secondary spare key to try. There is a way to order a additional key and not a replacement key which need to be programmed. RE replacement key neeed to be programmed an additional key need to read off an start a new rolling code that you can do yourself

Which model do you have? if its a C or an E then it sounds like your drive authorisation system has failed(DAS) basically the ignition switch. Got to be MB dealer or a specialised MB tech with the right computer. Not cheap either, sorry if its bad news

I'm sure you have probably already tried jiggling the steering wheel while attempting to turn the key, but thought I'd suggest it.

Just replaced my key the ignition switch and the esl in my c230 98 Benz. Worked for about a week and now the esl will not unlock the steering or start the car. Is there any way to reset the esl? All three components are new I don't understand the problem .what causes the esl not to engage when you put the key in the ignition

go to dealer to reset system, or download instructions from internet. It may be possible for a tow-truck operator to do this, but ask and check first, so you don't pay for nothing.

Program remote control for mazda mpv 2002

Courtesy of: forums.mazdaworld.org

Try this, it works on several 2002 models:

Step 1: Open drivers door and leave open.

Step 2: Lock and unlock the drivers door using the power door lock switch on the door.

Step 3: Insert key into the ignition.

Step 4: Turn key to on position and return to off position. (IMPORTANT - use ON position NOT ACC position). Do this 3 times within 10 seconds. Leave key in the ignition.

Step 5: Open and close the drivers door 3 times. (Door should be left open after this step).

Step 6: ECU should respond by locking and unlocking the doors.

Step 7: Press any button on remote #1. ECU responds by locking and unlocking the car doors.

Step 8: Press any button on remote #2 (etc.) Each time the ECU will respond by locking & unlocking the doors.

Step 9: Remove the key from the ignition and the ECU will respond a final time with a series of door locks and unlocks. You're done
