Question about 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

Power windows, mirrors not working

Sure enough, just like the previous posts the black wire in the rubber boot was broken. Come on Jeep... get on the ball. Send the engineer who designed this wiring harness with a brittle cable back to school. I fixed the problem by splicing a new 6" piece of softer 14 guage wire. I used wire screw caps to connect the ends. I'll see how long this lasts.

I have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited edition and the drivers door control panel doesnt work at all(power windows, locks, mirrors) The controls on the other doors for the windows dont work either but...

I had same problem it is a ground wire broken in the harness rubber boot between dthe driver door. Peel back the rubber that protects wires and you will find broken ground wire(black) add a piece of wire solder and wrap with electrical tape put rubber boot back into door everything should work.

THIS REALLY WORKS****** Saved atleast $600 easy
Ok so when you open your driver door there is a black boot that goes from the body of Jeep to the door (inside the Jam when you open door-its visable) Take this loose...inside there is a wire bundle...there was a black and orange wire in there that were both broken....All we did was strip these and reconnect them w/ connector....Voila..windows all roll up and down..interior lights come on and the locks work and the power mirrors....I AM SO HAPPY THAT THIS WORKED SAVED ME SO MUCH $$$$

Power windows and powered mirrors won't work and I suspect a relay but I don't know which one it might be. I wasted some money on a Hanes book because all the help those guys would give me was to say...

Hey man, I had this same exact problem today. In your door jam, there is a rubber boot that is enclosing wires for your powered options. Pull back the rubber boot and check the wires. I guarantee that there is atleast 1 broken if not more. Splice them back together and tape the **** out of them with electrical tape. let me know if this was the problem!! Hope this helps!

Power windows, door locks and mirrors inop.

Sounds familiar - I pulled the rubber boot back and found the black wire was broken. I stripped the wires and put on a couple bullet connectors (terminators) and all is good. Just wish I would have seen this post before I took the door panel off... Oh well...
