Question about 2000 Ford Contour
Our 2000 contour starts missing and dies. It will start after a few minutes, but never runs right. I changed the spark plugs, wires, and cap/coil, ran fine for a while and it started doing it again. The shop we took it to replaced the fuel pump, fa sensor, and cleaned the gas tank. It is just as bad after all this. We can't keep dumping money into this car hoping something will work. Any suggestions?
Try running injector cleaner like Lucas injector cleaner through the fuel system and also check the fuel pressure regulator. If the fuel pressure regulator is bad or the vacuum hose has a leak, that's where the problem may be. The other to is to try and clean out your EGR valve. A dirty or stuck EGR valve will give you the problems your described, Remove the EGR valve and clean it out with carb cleaner and make sure that the valve is not seized and can move. Good luck and hope this helps. Keep me posted, be glad to get your car running 100% again.
