When the abs light or any other light flashes it means that theres a problem in that particuler system normaly on the abs system you will not feel no differance because the anti lock brake system works only if the hit the brake hard it would not allow the brake system to lock up any of the wheels thata why the name says it all ANTI LOCK BRAKE but you should get it check by a mechanic with a scanner he will tell you were is the fault good luck

2001 vw passat not shifting out of first

The engine and the automatic transmission (transmission control is only for automatics, engine is still computer controlled no matter the transmission type) in this vehicle are computer controlled and in most cases when a fault occurs a fault code is stored in the memory of the computer control module. There are exception to this, such as the Mass Airflow Meter and fuel pressure problems. What must be done is to have all the basic testing done such as a scan of the system for fault codes as well as a check with a live data scanner tool for engine functions that are not within range of normal, a trained technician is required to know what is correct and what isn't, then based on careful diagnostics done from a factory repair manual the correct part is replaced or the wiring repaired or the computer replaced (known as the PCM), which is very rarely the problem. Other basic checks must be done as well such as mechanical problems with the engine as well as engine state of tune and mileage on the engine. The transmission can have mechanical issues as well such as no gear engagement at all or a failed pump or other pressure related problems.

What parts do i need to buy for a P1128 code on a 2001 VW passat

That P code p1128 is for a fault with one of the lambda probes on that vehicle, you really need to see which one is not oprating 1st, and make sure wiring is ok to that sensor 1st before just going to buy a new lambda probe

Hope this helps Chris

Abs light stays on and i need to know how to do the clutch on a 2oo1 passat a good friend needs vw help we are a front end shop and there are no good shops to fix these things . also has check engine light...

ABS sensor or sensors have failed , cost about $40 each and need to have a reset done on a VW coded laptop.

Quite a big undertaking putting a clutch in a Passat not to be tackled lightly and without workshop facilities

With 172K miles the whole car must be on the edge of the cliff , think you are due to part company with it or dig very deep into your pockets for a fix
