Have you tried key cycling to see if any trouble codes are stored? Do you know how it is done?

My 98 does the exact same thing. Had you figured out what the problem was? Going nuts here!

A couple cheap things you can try. first try some Lucus upper cylinder lubricant. It is a injector cleaner. You pour it in the gas tank. or try change the spark plugs. I had a 1994 Caravan it did the same thing and the Lucus worked great an'til I could tune it up.

Seen this many times on Grand Cherokees. The crank sensor is going bad. Replace it with a dealer crank sensor, not an aftermarket one.

Start Testing

Check fuel pressure with a gauge at engine
KO/EO

You have to determine what you have or what your loosing

Spark or Fuel etc

Most likely going to need wiring diagrams to learn the system
you need to test

When my 1972 chevrolet 350 4 barrel is warmed up it acts like its not getting gas and jerks and eventually dies. if i wait a few minutes it will start up but after slight acceleration it starts it aga

Good chance it is not getting fuel, or enough fuel.
When the rig is cold, the choke is closed. As it warms up, the choke opens.
If the metering jets inside the carb are dirty, they may not be letting enough fuel into the barrels. You could also have a vac leak that is masked by the choke until the engine warms up.

Jeep grand cherokee choking problem after a few minutes.

Check your idle air control valve. Sounds as though it may be the problem. The other item could be the TPS, but I doubt it because it would idle poorly all the time even after warming up.

I have a 97 jeep grand Cherokee, when it has sat for over an hour it takes 8-10 seconds of the starter running before it starts. If turned off after running, and started within a few minutes no problem,...

Fuel pump. The valve in the pump that stops the fuel from draining back into the tank is not working so you crank and crank until the fuel gets up front. Turn the key on but not to start for 5 seconds then off do it five times and then try to start it should start right up

Sounds like the fuel pump is going out. Replace the filter first, as it's only $10. If that doesn't fix it, then it's probably the pump, which is $250.

Living in New England we have some cold days. What I find helps, but not necessary your problem, is to turn the key to the "on" position for 5 seconds or so and then turn the key to actually start the engine. Its starts right up without major pull on starter or battery.
