SOURCE: Jeep won;t start..new fuel pump installed
try the fuel filter and make sure you have proper oil pressure!! Remeber if you have tried craking to many bad times then the plugs are going to be fouled out!! Means that they are going to be drowned with gas and need replacing!! Also make sure your fuel pump is coming on!! You should hear a hissin or a hummin noise back from the fuel tank!

There are a few things for you to do to get it running right. Any fuel that may have been in the system would have turned in to varnished and needs to be cleaned out of your fuel system. You can buy a can of Sea Foam from the Auto Parts Store and follow the instructions. THe other thing to is to buy a can of throttle body cleaner and clean out the throttle body and Idle air control valve which would cure the stalling problem. Start with that and give it a good run on the road and then do an oil and filter change to ge all the water condensation contamination out of the engine and also to the transmission fluid and filter change too. Good luck and this should na a good start to getting your car running 100% again.

Also, when you have the dog house off, remove the distributor cap and check for moisture.
SOURCE: Hi, I have a transit
I think it is i will probably have to pull the timing belt, it sounds like it probably skipped due to the serpentine belt cords wrapped around something under the timing belt cover, any other suggestions on alternate causes before I start pulling the brand new timing belt?12

check to see if you can hear a loud sucking sound (air) going into the throttle body when the engine starts then dies. if you hear alot of air being sucked into the throttle body, replace the Coolant Temperature sensor located close to the thermostat housing on top of the intake manifold. If this $12.00 part goes bad, it will cause the same symptom you have described. You can check the sensor for correct reading by using a scan-tool.
