2002 Durango 5.9 hesistes and stalls often

Vehicle starts and runs great, untill a few mins later it will start to hesist. It will almost loose power completely, i can put the accelerator down all the way and the car will not move. i have to feather the throttle for a little bit and it will catch, and when it does catch i have to floor it in order to get it to stop hesistating. If i dont floor it, it will stall on me. If it stalls it starts back up. I've tried fuel injector cleaning and different gas, even higher grades. i do have an oxygen sensor code (not sure what it is, i forget) any advice or suggestions to try would be apperciated. I do have a lift at the garage and some technical knowledge. Thanks in Advance.

Old post but it ended up being the oxygen sensors. Both of them.

Sounds to me like an airlock in the system. you will have to check it when its cold by opening the engine coolant cap on the engine, not the filler bottle and top it up if needed also squeeze pipes while you do it

Hi. It would be useful to get a code read and some live data from a decent diagnostic tool. There are quite a few possible causes including, pressure in tank - if the fuel tank can't vent pressure then a vacuum will eventually form stopping fuel getting to the engine, this will cause it to loose power and stall. Then after a few mins the pressure will drop and the process start again, easy test is when the car stalls remove filler cap - if that's the fault there will be an audible hiss and the car will start up again.

part blocked exhaust will have same problems but will more generally cause a lack of power and acceleration.
are there other symptoms? i.e only when conering or only when pulling off or stopping, engine light on/off. Jon

What causes the transmission to be hesistant going

You need to go to AUTOZONE or one of the places that has a FREE engine analyzer loaner and reset the transmission error code. This has happened to me 3 times in 3 years...

ABS light/not starting

I would jumpstart the car and let it run for 15 minutes. If it doesent stay running the altenator is bad--if it stays running and the next morning it doesnt start the battery is bad.
