It could be a starter problem when hot or fuel pump problem. you have to determine which it is.

there are many things that could be wrong... evn though this caprice does not have points it does have a cap mounted coil that could be bad, also under neath the dist. is wuts called a pickup coil this coul also be bad. try a simple tune up first..plugs wires cap and rotor, new cap doesnt come with coil so you have to swap your old one into the new cap. getting a new coil wouldnt be to bad of an idea

SOURCE: 2000 V6 S10 - Won't start when hot...must cool down

Sounds like your starter might be going out.  Sometimes when they start to go bad they will not start properly when they are hot.  When you give it time to cool down it will start right back up.  The other thing it could be would be a coil pack because they will do the same thing but I would think if it was the pack that you would have problems with it shutting down while you were running.  Take the starter to your auto parts store and have them test it several times to simulate being hot and see what they say.  Let me know if you have any other questions.  Thanks for rating my response and for using FixYa!

SOURCE: 1995 Chevrolet Caprice Classic won't start after

There is an electronic module that amplify signal from knock sensor. Commonly is flat and located in motor compartement left side (seein from the front of the car) or in the same side back at the corner near gas and A/C reles. Unplug and try. If it sollve the problem, replace knoc sensor

SOURCE: ford taurus 2001 car start but once the car is cut off it won't start up again until it cools off the car is not running hot.

After you kill it, when you try to start it back up, does the starter turn the motor? Or is it froze up (will not turn over)?

95 Chevy Caprice Classic My heat in my car don't work the blower motor works just fine

Use a garden hose and flush your cooling system (specifically the heater core) to clear out any blockage or buildup. Once the water comes out clear put the hoses back on and refill the radiator and overflow tank with 50/50 Antifreeze and see if you have heat. If not the next thing to check/replace is the heater core itself.

Bleed colant sys

Raise the front of the car as high as poss with a floor jack and then fill the coolant recovery tank/ bottle to the top, run the engine until it gets hot but do not overheat it, shut it down and let the coolant be pulled into the radiator as it cools, you can also run water over the radiator core to speed up the process. Do not let the recovery tank run dry.

I've taken her to the shop twice in the past 2

it could be that the thermostat is not opening to alow flued to cerculate through the whole coling system, when u start the car the thermostate stay's closed to healp it warm up faster, it open's mecanicly at a pre set temputure, if it doesent open the water pump can't cerculate the collant and the engin will run hot but might not over heat untill pushed hard while pulling a hill or a full load of friend's, it's normaly a cheap thing to replace, and the shop shoulden't charge more than a couple hour's labore on that car to do the repair! hope this healp's

Stopped running 1991 caprice classic 8 cyl.

it could very well be the ignition module. i had these go out on a couple different vehicles before. whe the motor gets up to temp it will shut off and not start back up. it will start however after it cools down. if yours does this then that is your culperate. if its all the tim then id say your coil pack it bad.

1995 Chevrolet Caprice Classic won't start after

Sounds a lot like an overheated engine. The electric cooling fan should run after turning off the ignition when it is hot if this is like most vehicles and prevents heat buildup in fuel lines.
Try flooring the gas pedal and leave it there while you crank the engine. This will prevent flooding the engine with fuel and give the engine a leaner mix to start.
