Question about 1992 Geo Tracker

2 Answers

I just bought a 90 Tracker. non running. got it cheep and its in great shape. problem is fuel related. I have 70 PSI into the TB and out of the TB into the return line. the Injector is new today. seems to be pulsing. but no spray. I would assume that the relay is good. Maybe the pressure regulator?. dont wanna buy anymore un needed parts.Last owner said he was driving and it just shut off. never to run again. any ideas?

Yes. I ohm'd the origional injector per the trouble shooting in my Haynes manual and it was outta spec so I bought a new one. I can feel the injector pulsing as I turn over the motor with a remote start button I rigged. no spray from the injector.

Book says 25- 35 psi. I have 70. also 70 into the return line. That "regulator" seems to Vacume operated. I thought also about the throttle positioning sensor. Dunno. Mfg date was 8/89 but all the pics and check out procedures in my book apply to a 91 and up. any more ideas? Steve

First of all....if you have 70 psi of pressure, then you are flooding your motor and you won't get it to turn over.

Fuel pressure regulator.

Do you have a throttle body injected system or multi-port?

Intermittent fuel pressure drop, to 5 psi, on a stratus 2.4l 1996

Sounds like a bad fuel pump to me.Or dirty fuel lines/injectors/regulator.

80 to 90 psi it's awfully high 45 to 50 perhaps a bit more (55) is more like it.

2000 Chevrolet S10, 4.3, 2wd, 162,000. Surges during take off or under load. New distributor and TPS, MAP 6 months old. Tune up has 40000 miles on it. Fuel pressure 60 psi idle, 70 psi full throttle. Truck...

Sounds to me like fuel delivery issue. If i am correct this engine has the injector unit inside the intake manifold. When the engine needs the extra fuel for accel or loads it just isnt there. You are going to have to do a fuel drop test to determie if the correct amount of fuel is being released for the amount of time the injector is open.

96 tracker has no power

wow, you replaced everthing, wow that was $$
any mech and $200 would net an answer.
those changes were used parts im sure.

1:engine compression on mine is 180 psi all 4.
i have same exact car if it hits 180 ,the motor is fine, even 150)
2: clogged up injectors for sitting too long and the gas is bad ,which fouls the whole fuel system.
filter tank and injectors.

BTW motor is running lean.
unplug the maf and the ecu will mimic a virtual maf. can car will run fine, a tad rich.
if it dont run fine there are no injections.

a full scan tools works on all 96s and can tell you lots of facts.
Is the CEL lamp out running,
no,then pull code for free at autozone.
