Question about 2000 Plymouth Voyager

Timing belt on a plymouth voyager it snaped today how hard is it to replace and what are the chances that my valves are bentit is a 2.4 dohc 16 valve 4 cyl.

Valve are definetly bent.Its a bit easyer to change the belt than change the valves.

Dohc focus overheating


You need to take off the timing belt (or chain) cover and see why the one camshaft is not turning. Maybe the belt for that cam broke or the cam has seized from a bad cam bearing. One camshaft should be for the intake valves, the other cam is for the exhaust valves.

Timing belt broke and jump timing how do i get


If you have the harmonic balancer still attached you can align the timing marks with 0 degree to get the main block aligned. With the head removed you can turn the cam shaft till the number 1 valves are both closed and the number 3 exhaust valve is open. Take the time to inspect the valves as well. This vehicle did not come with no contact valves so when the belt broke it is possible the valves made contact with a piston and bent. I highly recommend you get the Haynes Repair manual on this vehicle from the local auto parts store as it has detailed instructions on how to get back to TDC if this happens. It also has Pictures on this. Because this belt goes around 3 timing marks aligning those after you have the pistons at TDC if you align the timing marks on the different sprockets/pullies the timing for teh valves will be correct.

I just resently replaced a brken timing belt on my 96 neon


Neons used a DOHC interference type engine. I hate to tell you this, but the valves are bent, and your entire valve train (possibly your cylinder head) needs to be repaired or replaced all together.

1997 plymouth grand voyager v6 3.0L broken timing belt


I had the same thing happen, No, I was told this is not one of the engines that allows the piston to contact the valves. I replaced the timing belt 2 years ago and had no valve problems.

Timing belt broke after fixing it two cyclinders where not workin


not sure what engine you have but check compression on the 2 cylinders in question,if they read below 100 psi more than likley the pistons hit some valves and they are bent, heads would need to be removed replace valves,a big deal
