Will not start, clicking noise when key is turned

Sounds like a dead battery ---turn on dome light and turn key to start if dome light goes out or dims very low than battery needs boost or replacement--if light not affected check ignition system -key -not worn down(didnt specify yr and vehicle)relays fuses and connections to starter and starter itself-------also have starter checked may be have short
