1999 GMC Suburban. no sound from radio

1999 GMC Suburban. Radio lights come on/clock works, but no sound from speakers. Only driver door lock actuator functioning. Now dash lights don't work, and radio lights go off when I turn on headlights. Something is draining battery when car not running.

There is a plug at the back of the radio connecting it to the vehicle wiring loom. If you can get at thes plug, either from below or by removing the radio unit, make sure the plug is tight and secure. I can't think that the amp has gone or you would have lost all sound, so this is more than likely the problem.

Even though it doesn't say locked, it probably is. Check your driver's manual to see how to reset it.

All of the door locks but one on our 1999 GMC Suburban will not lock or unlock when using either the remote or the door lock switch. Is there a relay that accuates the locks?

there is a relay but if it were bad none of your locks would work. your problem is the door lock motor it is a little electric motor that actuates the lock. its also called a door lock actuator. kind of expensive and a little difficult to replace.

    REAR BACK DOOR LOCK BROKEN

I recently answered this problem for someone else....If you can't find it here is what I found on my 1999 suburban .....The door lock actuator was bad, while i was replacing the actuator i noticed that the rod that goes from the keyed cylinder lock to the actuator was on enough of a bind that it was near impossible to lock and or unlock the door either with a key or the new actuator........the solution for me was to add a 3/4" spacer between the actuator mounting bracket and the door, also lubed the joints that were associated with the lock assy. hope this helps!

1999 GMC suburban locks seize in locked postion

I just bought a 1999 Suburban and all of the door lock actuators were bad including the rear (barn style door) while I was replacing the rear door acuator I noticed that even with the factory mounting bracket on the actuator it was causing the door lock rod (the rod from the keyed cylinder lock to the actuator) was on a bind......the solution I came up with is adding an additional 3/4" spacer between the factory mount bracket and the door attach point. this solved any binding and the door lock works great now........also I used a lubricant on all the doors where the rods run through the plastic guides, which seemed to help quite a bit! Hope this help's.

    Power Door Lock Problem

The last post by maddog1321 was exactly what I had with my right rear door. The electric locks would not lock and unlock, and you almost couldn't do it manually without my feeling I was about to break something. I took the door panel off, oiled everything and got no relief. Finally, I saw the above post and drilled out the aft-most pop-rivet. THE WINDOW WORKED PERFECTLY! I didn't drill out the forward (closest to the handle) pop-rivet because I wanted to do one at a time so the solenoid would not fall out of place. I then put a new pop-rivet in place of the one I drilled out. I then reinstalled everything and the locks work like new.
