Its also common for these sensors to go bad , its a eazy fix

To many years on the road probably was mistreated--don't want to make u feel bad but it may be head engine that is about to die--make sure that the tank water always full,fuel pump clean AND all plugs ok

check your inteior light switch. for a tempory fix remove the bulb

There is a heat sensor located near the thermostat that goes directly into the block. Get a Haynes or Chiltons manual.
The thermostat is probably bad and causing your overheating. If that is not hte problem, then it would probably be your water pump.
