If Drive Selector switch is properly aligned then a shift silonoid might be the problem.

SOURCE: something slipping in transmission ford contour 1999

it depends on the trans but ford had alot of problems with though years with the overdrive shift kit it is a band in the trans and it pop out and break you need to take to local trans shop and let them look at it and tell them the problem and they will take the trans out and crack it up and replace the part that need to be replace before you have to replace the whole trans the ford dealerships dont have the best trans people hate to say that but it true take to someone who specialize in trans only

No Reverse and the fluid is dirty and smells funny.

Sounds like you blew out your reverse belt/gear in the transmission. Probably going to need a transmission rebuild/replacement.

1990 toyota camry wont go into gear or slips out

Could be a long list of things.
Its too late for a filter change. Doing that now would probably make matters worse.
The trans uses electric solenoids and a pump to apply pressure to the clutches. So either could be faulty given the age and mileage.
I'm not sure if the shifting problem is connected to the shift indicator lights problem.
You may need to take it to a trans shop to find out for sure. And they will not want to touch it with that many miles on it.
A regular mechanic might be able to do a pressure test on it to at least find out if it is the pump or not.

Time for a transmission rebuild, the clutches are shot or the system has a pressure failure.

I put a rebuilt transmission in a month ago and only really drove to the dump.i drove it around 60 miles with no problem.i went to drive it the following day and when i put it in reverse it makes a ginding...

transmissions are very vehicle specific, like it has to come out of the same year, same make and model, and have the same bolt patterns, also the gear ratios have to be the same. if the gear ratios are different you can take it to a transmission shop and they should be able to fix the ratio problem, although if it is grinding in reverse, that is the first sign to a bad transmission.

I have a 2001 ford f250 powerstroke diesel was driving and transmision started to slip drove about 3 miles and now wont move forward at all but reverse works fine

Some of the Ford transmissions actually have an aluminum gear which will go out somewhere around 150 to 200 thousand miles. OR it could be really low on transmission fluid.
