Question about 2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

1 Answer

My 2003 Trailblazer with 106,000 miles on it started to make a noise(kind of a clunking)toward the front periodically. Especially when you go in reverse for a ways and stop and then go right to drive. Then when you accelerate it makes this clunking or not such a good noise for a little bit. And sometimes when I'm coming to a stop the front wheels shimmy a little and it makes a noise too. Doesnt do it all the time. Any ideas?

My 2008 trailblazer is making a clunking noise when I stop

2 things to look at, check your front swaybar end links, these tend to make a clunking noise when bad. Also, if you're having a feeling of beeing bumped a tad with that clunk, check your slip yoke on your driveline, needs to be greased.

Periodic clunck in front end

A 2003 SUV will clock in over 80,000 miles.

It's time to inspect the shocks and struts.

The periodic clunck you hear in front end can cause by

mud guard boot to metal strut body contact

worn strut center post to body of strut contact

worn rubble linkage

or combination to all of the above.

I would take the SUV to a good car wash that has under carriage cleaning.

Let the SUV dry and inspect it someone who can compress the front end.

If the front of the SUV re-bound two times then the struts will need to replace.

2003 Mitsubishi Galant ES Clunking noise

the first thing i would check is the sway bar bushings they usualy go first. you have a bushing out somwhere. ive replace many struts because people have requested new struts and when we install them they come back and complain that the clunk is still there and all it needed was a bushing kit for $20
hope this helps

2003 Dodge Caravan Front end clunk.

Had similar problem with 2003 Dodge GC. Replaced the parts you mention + rack & pinion, then to fix the now noticable whining noise, replaced power steering pump and pulley. Fortunately was under an extended warrentee at 46k miles.
