Perhaps it's a stuck carburetor float valve, bad fuel pump (if it has one) or clogged fuel filter.

Starts and idle good wont accelerate.car sat for a year just put another motor in with 115000

Ok ...is the air filter been changed ...start there first.at idle the engine isn't in need of any big air and will use the surface air around it to run.if there is any air restrictions for air to flow it won't .then that's when engine dies.make sure it's getting enough air
Number one thing of all thing that run on gas at fault is the neglected air filter.a engine that runs on gas needs 3 thing to make it go fuel.spark.and you guest it air!

I'm having rough idle and smoke all of a sudden with my golf mk4 The oil warning lights up in dash. Oil level ok. Spark plugs not burning well. Replace spark plugs, changed oil filter, changed

Smoke is not a good sign. Running rough is not a good sign. Oil light not a good sign. You could have a combination of bad things, most likely expensive. Suggest professional help. Smoke can be bad rings or holed piston. Low oil pressure can be bad bearing or oil pump.

Oxygen Sensor Problems

Try putting in an additive in your gas tank that cleans the fuel injectors. if your fuel filter was that dirty, the fuel injectors may be gummed up.

EZGO 4 stroke petrol engined golf cart how do you service it

Change air filter, oil, spark plug, cable to battery, When changing the oil, there is no need for a new filter. Just wash the old one with carb clean. Held in by 3 small bolts beside the drain plug. Check the rear end oil (90 weight) use the upper plug. Fill till it runs out. Grease the front end. Change the fuel filter. Drain the carb if it is going to sit thru the winter.

2001 Grand Prix GT 3800 series engine

The best solution is to do a complete tune up with new spark plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter, pcv valve and oil change.. If this still happen I would get some fuel injector cleaner, or use marvel mystery oil in both your oil(crankcase) and gas tank. You can get mystery oil at walmart..its in a red bottle with black label.
