Warm diesels should idle low. Some of them 800-900 revs.
At cold, they should have a fast idle, some 1100 revs.
look if your engine has a cylindrical device, with a bowden cable to the diesel distibutor pump. This will be your coldstart device, responsible for idle revs.
please state year and model of this engine as they do change ,i think its a citreon something like a berlingo or maybe a 306 or whatever but need the year as the common rail is different to the injector pump model or is it a dreaded my favourite motor and thats a renault
Have you checked the oil level, is it in the norm?, if its normal and still get light, then possible faulty oil pressure sensor. The brake light... are you disengaging the parking brake all the way?, have your parking brake sensor and oil pressure sensor checked out.
