A general answer would be you would not get a precise fluid level reading but mostly without the entry hole being fully closed or covered, if that fluid is agitated enough could be forced up and out due to pressure plus dirt may get in.

Hope this helps.......

Checking transmission fluid

Cars these days have colored dip sticks. One is yellow and one is red. The red one would be your transmission dipstick. Check the transmission with the car running. If you are low. Get a funnel and put it where the dip stick came from and put some transmission fluid in it and put the dip stick back in the hole.

1997 transmission flush

Don't flush your transmission. Do a drain and fill. You can damage the transmission by doing a flush. There is a drain on the bottom of the transmission just take it off once drained put it back in. Fill then transmission throw the drip stick hole. To check level read the dip stick it will tell how to check it. If there is no instruction on it put the car in park and start it up. The car needs to be running to check propper level.

I can't locate where to check the transmission fluid, there's a cap on top of the ****** that says ****** fluid but there's not dip stick

I am at a bit of a loss. Not only do I not know what Saturn you have but this site edits words that should not be edited. (I don't know what a ****** or a ****** is)

Regardless of what Saturn or those words, most the automatics I see (German cars are oddballs)have a tube where the transmission is filled and the dip stick is inside that tube. (may have a red handle) Perhaps your dip stick broke off. Can you look into the tube and see anything? The dip stick is long enough and the tube is deep in the pan where the broke dip stick should not fall all the way into the pan.

Need to know how to add the transmission fluid

Manual transmission is easy. There is a fill plug on the left axle flange and a drain plug on the bottom (special bit required).

The automatic must be filled while running so it really isn't a DIY.

Can't find where to add transmission fluid in a 2006 all wheel drive equinox

I am unfamiliar with exact car, however, It is not unusual for transmission oil to be put in via the the transmission dip stick tube - do not confuse it with the engine oil dip stick tube. Do it slowly and make sure you dont over fill or you will eventutally blow your transmission box seals or worse. Let the oil settle before checking levels too because it is easy to misread the dip stick when you have used the dip stick tube to fill oil in.

Don't know where the dipstickis i see everything else but the transmision stick. it's a 96

The transmission dip stick is on the left side of the engine toward the rear and has a red snap clip on it . Transmissions are always red and engine oil is always yellow so you don't put the wrong oil in the wrong place . However you didn't say what make or model but it will have a red dip stick pull out handle and every chevy i have ever seen for a 96 is in this area . Look around for it because its there and red

How to check transmission fluid and fill if nessesary.

if it is an automatic transmission, the dip stick is under the hood and should be on the drivers side of the engine, start the car leave it in park, pull the dip stick out and wipe it off with a cloth, reinstall the dip stick in the filler tube completely, and remove again and notice where the fluid level is on the dip stick,if you need to add fluid to bring it up to full, the correct fluid for your car is printed on the dip stick, you need a transmission funnel and put in in the tube you pulled the dip stick out of.
if you transmission is a standard, there is a 5/8 bolt on the side of the transmission you remove and put something like a screw driver in the hole to see where the fluid level is,.

Need to check transmission fluid on my 1999 c180 elegance.can i use engine oil dip stick

No, absolutely not. Check the transmission fluid level with the transmission dip stick. The oil level dip stick may not be the same length and the markings are not the same. Overfilling a transmission may cause damage. Do not have one then you need to get one. What has happened have you lost it?

How can i put transmission fluid into my car,how much do i put in

Check the Level of the transmission fluid by pulling the Transmission dip stick. The colour of the dip stick is most likely red in colour and you need to check it with the car's engine running and hot. Pull the dip stick out clean it off and check it again. always check the second reading.
To fill the transmission, you need to fill it through the Transmission dip stick tube. Yes your going to need a thin funnel and good luck. Do not over fill the transmission. over filling will cause damage to the transmission.
Best thing is, if you have not done a transmission oil and filter change. Have it done at a Transmission shop and you'll know that the transmission level is fine and have them show you have to check and fill the Transmission. As time goes by and mileage get's high, the fluid will get contaminated and the filter plugged up which would in turn cause a transmission failure.
Good luck and hope this helps. Oh and the type of transmission fluid should be in your manuel or stamped on the dip stick.
