Question about 2001 Cadillac Eldorado
The A/C compressors on these vehicles are designed to shut down if there isn't enough freon in the system. That being said, they more go in and out than just stay off when the freon is low until the freon gets so low that the compressor finally doesn't come on at all. I would say your freon is low and you can either add it yourself through your A/C low side port with a recharge kit that you can purchase at your local auto parts store (make sure to get one with a pressure gauge if you choose to do this) or you can have a mechanic do it for you. Re-pressurizing the system to the correct level should get your A/C working properly again. Let me know if you have any additional questions and thanks for using FixYa!
