Question about 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

1992 Jeep Grand Cherokee needs water pump replaced and I can't seem to get the clutch fan to come off. I am use to working on chevys and have never had this problem. what am I doing wrong. I have removed the four bolts hold the fan to the pump shaft but it won't slide off. Is it connect by the 1-1/2 bolt? Please help

If you have the four flange bolts out, you may need to use a thin bladed screwdriver to separate the fan flange from the pump flange (a little wd 40 helps) There is no inch and a half bolt anywhere on the pump or fan so I have no clue what other bolt you are talking about. However, you likely are not removing the fan from the pump if you are working on an L6 engine. The pump does not have the fan mounted to it. Pump is bolted on the front of the block...lower hose goes to it.

Disconnect battery, remove bolts holding fan shroud, at the water pump where the fan shaft attaches. Unscrew the nut. It will remove the fan from water pump, lift out fan and shroud, 4 bolts holding clutch to fan.

2000 jeep grand cherokee is overheating, replaced the radiator, face works, water pump seems to be working, replaced the fan relay. thinking of replacing the thermostat and wondering what it could be if...

If the fans don't come on to cool the radiator then maybe it's the thermal fan switch, which sends the turn on signal to the fan relay, that might be bad.

1997 jeep Grand Cherokee 5.2 liter V8. Water Pump. When I remove the big nut to remove the clutch fan. Will that lose the pulley that's attached to the water pump? I don't see bolts holding pulley wheel to the water pump? Is it pressed on or will it become loose when I remove clutch fan nut?
