You can check the alternator with a screwdriver.Heres how to do it, in the center of the alternaton pully is a fairly large bolt as well as a shaft that the bolt is bolted to. with the engine running get a non magnetic screwdriver and touch carefully the center shaft of the alternator. If it sticks magnetically, the alternator is producing current. If it isnt magnetically attracted then the alternaton isnt creating a magnetic feild, or at least one not powerfull enough to charge the battery. My guess its the alternator, sometimes even a new one out of the box can be damaged and not work. this works on any cars alternator however be carefull not to get the screwdriver in the belt system.good luck ,Gary (ganangan@gmail)
Check the alternator output. It should be 14 volts. You could have a bad PCM . As the fiield control to switch on the alternator is PCM contolled
I would check the belts and change.them if there bad. Go to Auto Zone and have them tell what codes R causing the lights to come on. It could be something else or something related to the alternator or battery. Make sure your battery cables negative & positive R secure and tight.
