You mite as well change the crank sensor too , you replaced everything else ! Parts stores love you ! What's missing after it stops , spark ? Can't be fuel you replaced everything there or did you ? fuel pump relay ! What year is your Cutlass ? What engine does it have ? 2.4 or 3.1 L .could have two crank sensors 7X an 24x an there is also a cam sensor ! You could have taken it to a repair shop an spent less ! You should have had it hooked up to a scan tool that shows engine data !

SOURCE: quits while driving replaced many suspected parts

try this, the next time it quits leave the key in on position and get a broom stick and go to the passenger side of the car. About straight in at the back of the door ,reach under with the broom stick and tap the plastic gas tank a few times, have someone try to start it or go start it yourself. Mine did this even after the garage checked it out and cleaned the tank. Come to find out dirt settles around the fuel pump and clogs it. They just blame the pump but in my case the pump was fine. I was told Alero used a very small fine mesh in the sock that goes in the fuel pump and they clog up. But most of the dirt was around the plastic guard around the fuel pump. See if this works and let us know. Good luck

SOURCE: falls dead when driving, will restart after awhile

Did you try checking or replacing the coolant sensor? I think you should replace it along with the thermostat. Are there any problems like sputtering or any unusual noises or symptoms? Smoke, anything?

SOURCE: 2000 Grand AM GT Shuts off while driving

What you should do is check for spark when the vehicle stalls. If you have no spark then you probably have a bad ignition module. The other thing is You didn`t mention if the check engine light is coming on.If it is then have the codes read.Even if it is not you should still check the codes.Sometimes the computer will have a code and the light will not come on.This could give you a clue as to what could be causing the engine to stall. You might also want to check your fuel pressure just to make sure it is good. The pressure should be 52 - 59 psi.Hope this helps.Good luck.

SOURCE: ford festiva just dies while going down the road

i had many problems with what i thought was my starter/ignition and replaced my alternator and battery. tho they were helpful, ultimately the problem was a small fusible link that had needed to be replaced, as it was over heating and when it would it would stop whatever electrical signal was imperitive to the car actually running. if i was driving and the wire over heated, it would stop running right on the road. i just used some 12 AWG stranded wire and it stopped stalling.i discovered it by accident when i touched the wire and noticed it was excessively hot and worn down. it was located in the upper right hand corner under the hood, where there are 3 wires, brown and black.

No fuel to the injectors

Have you checked your fuel filter? It could be clogged. Has the truck sat for a long period of time? Is the fuel pump GM? Does it have enough fuel pressure? Are you sure it's not ignition related? Possibly an ignition module shorting out after it gets hot.

My 1994 mazda 626 starts and ldles but stalls when driving

ENGINE STALL WHILE DRIVING COULD BE STOPPED UP FUEL FILTER OR FAULTY FUEL PUMP.IDLE SPEED TOO LOW.OR IGNITION COIL HAS A LOOSE ELECTRICAL CONNECTION.FAULTY IGNITION MODULE.BAD PLUGS AND WIRES. I WOULD DO A LITTLE TUNE UP.CHANGE FUEL FILTER AND AIR FILTER.IF SPARK PLUGS AND WIRES HAS OVER 30000 MILES ON THEM I WOULD CHANGE THEM.ALSO FUEL FILTER IF OVER 30000 MILES.CHANGE IT CLEAN FUEL INJECTORS. TO TROUBLE SHOOT CAR I WILL DO A LITTLE TUNE UP FIRST TO MAKE EVERYTHING TOP NOTCH ON THE ENGINE BEFORE I GO TO NEXT LEVEL.BUYING NEW PARTS DONT NEED.GET VECHICLE SCANNED WITH A SCANNER. THAT WILL ALSO PIN POINT PROBLEM QUICKLY.BUT DO THE LITTLE TUNE UP FIRST IF EVERYTHING PAST 30000 MILES MARK.SCAN VECHICLE FOR FAULTY IDLE SPEED CODES OR FAULTY IGNITION MODULE CODE THEY WILL COST MORE MONEY TO FIX.PARTS HIGH.

Ignition module?

I had the same problem with my 1992 Transport. I fixed it by replacing the ignition module which took about 20 minutes, and should be easily accomplished by anyone with moderate repair skills. The problem with mine faulty ignition module was resolved temporarily by unplugging/re-plugging it from the computer (under the dash), or unplugging/re-plugging it from the distributor assembly harness. Every time I reseated the connector, the engine started up fine. I could also let the engine set a while, and it would restart. However, when it was decided to fail, there was no fuel being injected into the engine. This is logical since the ignition module tracks the engine RPM and sends this data to the computer to tell it how much fuel to inject. Check your fuel injectors when you crack it over when you experience the problem, and if you get no fuel, it's likely your ignition module. I think i paid 30 bucks at autozone for a new one.
