That is not a shift cable problem, you have a transmission issue.

Rear door will not open on my 2007 Ford Fusion. It won't open from the inside or the outside. I removed the interior door panel and can look inside the door. I can see the mechanism for the outside door...

use the fob and keep clicking unlock/lock button see if everything is moving.then try banging outside of the door about 6 inches from door handle while pressing unlock.has worked on some other cars like vw audi and vauxhall

Need detailed diagram of 1998 latch mechanism to remove connections from it

there is no diagram... the latch is also a non-servicable latch, so if your problems in the latch- it needs a latch. i would look more closely at the outside door handle itself as i have seen a few of them break on the E series vans.you may be able to get detailed instructions thru autozone.com or @ autozone. hope this helps and good luck

Door cables coming apart

I realize that these postings are several months old but if anyone is in search of replacement parts for the door cable on a Ford Econoline, please email [email protected]

In most cases it is not the cable itself that breaks, but the plastic retainer tips at the end of the cable that deteriorates over time. We have both plastic and aluminum versions of these tips that can be purchased and attached to your door cables.

Parking brake seized

Are the parking brakes on, or they won't go on? The cable from the front e-brake pedal back to the rear wheels has probably seized due to corrosion. Soak it over several days w/ wd-40 or some type of penetrating oil and it may loosen up the cable. If u have 4 wheel disk, just pull off rear tires for access to cable connection to brake pads. Use penetrating oil at any points where cable attaches to rear pads (don't get any on the pads ) good luck countrycurt0

Loooking for diagram

There is no way to post/attach such info on this site, I would suggest you try to buy a factory manual on ebay, they are much cheaper there than at the dealer who would want the dead to your house.
