1995 Bonneville Missing during acceleration

During acceleration uphill or while on the highway, the car will miss or shudder during acceleration until I take my foot off the gas or go into passing gear then it smooths out. When this happens the fuel pump becomes very loud. No check engine light. I put a fuel pressure gage on it and the pressure is fine. I change the fuel filter on a regular basis and the pump was changes back in '05. Gas mileage down the tubes. After letting the car sit, the problem goes away and comes back later. Any suggestions would be great.

Had the same issue, i would have it in park and press the gas and it would sputter also with low rpms. Changed spark plugs, wires, checked the cat, changed fuel filter, checked ignition coils, but no luck! ALL I HAD TO DO was to unplug the mass air flow sensor and rev the engine in park and it worked perfectly. SO I PULLED it off (three screws). There are two wires with little sensors on them, one of them had some stuff on it, so i took a q-tip and some isopropyl alcohol and gently wiped it cleaned, air dried and replaced. PROBLEM SOLVED. So simple, fter three days of trying to diagnose and 60 dollors in replacement parts.

While merging onto the highway when my car hit 3 and 4th gear the engine seemed to "stutter/misfire" during harder acceleration. Check engine light also flashed briefly during hard acceleration. Dur

Could be a transmission problem or something as simple as bad spark plugs.
The engine is under the most load when RPM is low and you are trying to accelerate, such as when it upshifts.
You should have the computer checked for trouble codes and hopefully that will point you in the right direction to test.
If the spark plugs have more than 50,000 miles of wear you might start with replacing them.

1999 v6 firebird misfires on #6 cyl when under load, plug was fuel fouled last time I had it replaced, but keeps missing only when under load. no other problems.

if you've changed the spark plug and no difference, then it's time to swap the coil with another cyl. coil and see if the miss goes to the other cylinder, if it does'nt follow to other cylinder, then I would replace that injector !

Hesitates during acceleration, misses during cruise at low speeds.

Could the car be missing a few cylinders? Are spark plugs all ok.Otherwise the air mass monitor might be to blame.

Engine occasionally acts if it is missing out during slow acceleration. What could this possibly be?

There and may factors that cause a missing during accerating. Is the air filter clean? Has the car been tuned up? are the spark plugs clean? Has the gas filter been changed? Let me know if I can be of further help.
