Was it exact to the one that you had on the car (Jaguar's with same specs) or just fitted in its place. If it was exact to original then one of two thing : 1- Wires are not fitted firmly. 2- Bad altenator

Brake light& battery light keeps coming on now car won't start

Anytime the battery light on the dash comes on is an indicator of the alternator not charging, resulting in a dead battery. Low voltage will cause other warning lights to come on as well. Replace the alternator and fully charge the battery before running the engine, to avoid full field condition with the new alternator ( overheating).

2003 Ford ka what colour is the wire for the alternator warning light on dash cluster

There isn't one ! This vehicle relies on serial data communication . The PCM sends an message on the data bus to the microprocessor inside the instrument cluster . The PCM controls the operation of the charging system warning indicator in the instrument cluster. The PCM is therefore responsible for turning the warning indicator off after the engine is started and illuminating it under fault conditions (when the generator is not generating the correct amount of current with the engine running). The warning indicator will also be illuminated by the PCM at key ON engine OFF, and stall conditions.
Charging System Warning Indicator
The instrument cluster receives the charging system status from the PCM over the SCP or CAN communication network. The PCM controls the charging system and the charging system warning indicator. The PCM is therefore responsible for turning the lamp off once the system is running and illuminating it under fault conditions (including stall conditions).
How to Diagnose Controller Area Network CAN Your best bet would be to take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop .

2007 500. Why is battery not charging?

Hi, Is there a charging warning light on the dash? Have you checked to see if the alternator is sending out a charge? Have you checked the fuses (I think no 17)?

Problem charing

"charging"?
assuming you have got a battery warning light on dash? And it obviously doesn't go out. check the large red wire at the back of the alternator with a multi meter and you should have same voltage there as at the battery and its in good condition . If you have a good voltage there and a good engine earth then you need to disconnect the small wire at the back of the alternator - that should put out the warning light on the dash, This will prove the warning light circuit is ok. As long as your vehicle battery is ok and has a good voltage the only other thing that could be wrong apart from the alternator itself is the drive belt being broken or loose.

Alt. and brake liht on dash

the alt glows, when the charge system fails.
belt feel off? or engine RPM way below 800rpm hot?

the brake lamp comes on for every key on, for self test.
and at each engine stall. this is NORMAL.
the brake lamp warning glows usually for 4 reaons.
1: hand brake stuck on, or its switch.
2: low brake fuild.
3: front or rear brakes have failed (the balance switch)
4: ABS if fitted, is having , well Fits.

2000safari i was drivin the van died i have no power now and the battary is dead.

A possible alternator failure. It would have shown a battery charging warning light on the dash before failure if this is the case.
Restart with a donor battery and check dashboard for charge warning indicator. If illuminated, then replace alternator.

Warning light on dash looks like a yellow battery with an x on it. What is it??

When the battery warning light is on it indicates an issue with the charging system. Most of the time the alternator has failed, this can be confirmed by having the alternator tested.

Most major auto parts houses with do it for no charge.

Alt has a small red wire in the plug. what is it for

The circuit it forms part of runs from the battery, throug hthe charge warning light on the dash, the the voltage regulator on the alternator. The wire does two jobs.

When the alternator is generating output, it fails to carry any current (sounds odd, but that's how it is) because there's a similar voltage at each end. As a result, the charge warning light on the dash goes out.

When the alternator is freshly spun up, current flows through this wire (sourced through the warning lamp) to provide the initial excitation for the alternator, allowing it to generate electricity. One the alternator is working, it uses its own power to create excitation.
