Under the passenger side dash, right above floor board there is a wire connector. That connector is for your blower resistor. If you unhook it, the blower will stop running, hook it back up and you will have a blower. You can also remove the fuse. Point being you can use your truck. Order the new part and replace it. I can't remember how many wires went to it off hand, its rectangular, mayber 6-7or 8ish.

Oops, the part you need to order is the part the wire connector is hooked to. I believe it has two screws (6 mm maybe) holding it up into the black box above the passenger side floor. Most part stores should know what you are talking about when asking for a blower resister. Take the old one with you. Don't worry, its small enough to fit in your palm.

2003 chevy silverado 2500hd heater fan goes on and off in cold weather

If it does it at all speeds, I would look at the controller. Loose plug or contact inside it. If it does it only in low speeds or only high, replace the resistor, behind the blower.

Heater fan works on high only

These trucks have what is called a "blower motor resistor". It is used to lower the voltage reaching the heater fan which results in a slower speed. It could also be a bad heater fan switch, but is likely the resistors... see it all the time.

Go to advanceautoparts.com, put your vehicle in there and do a search for "blower resistor". You'll see a picture of the part.

2003 525I BMW and my battery went dead so I jumped it now my heater fan wont turn off even with my engine off and keys out

sounds like youve welded a relay shut with jumpstarting it with the heater on... check your relays - pull them out one at a time till the fan stops, you have found the relay for your heater= you can give it a knock on the ground and plug it back in to see if it frees the switch inside otherwise replace it - very cheap - stocked at bmw and good auto shops

The heater fan on my 98 chevy silverado stopped working... worked on high at first but made a high pitched noise and stopped all together

Run 12V directly to the motor and see if it will run, if it dosent than the motor is bad, if it does than the resister is bad, the resister makes the blower run and also regulates the speeds for the blower, but chanses are if it was making a high pitch squeel before it quit the motor went out.

2004 Chevrolet Silverado Heater/AC Blower on without Ignition ON

there is no relay for the heater fan it's a 15 amp fuse and is on the accessories circuit. the reostat is responsible for all 3 speeds .with the key off there should be no voltage to the blower motor whether the fans speed fan switch is on or off. the fuse will be located in the fuse paneleither on the drivers left side in the dash or underneath the dash in the fuse block. you have a short in the harness that is under the dash and most likely it's a bad plug on the harness. your going to have to do some searching but that's where the problem short is... please rate
