I have a 1974 buick Apollo with a 2 barrel carb stalling problem

I have a 1974 buick Apollo with 350v8 and a rebuilt rochester 2 jet carb. After the car is warmed up when you put it in gear the car just stalls and dies. When its cold there is not a problem. It restarts okay, but just continues to stall when you put it in gear.

Sounds like the idle screw on the linkage is not set correctly.

I have a 2007 Merc 90hp 4 stroke EFI. Stalls when trying to start, have to restart several times, most of the time even when warm it stalls when I put in nutral

You have dirty or clogged fuel jets. Most likely the low speed pilot jets. You will have to remove and take apart the carbs to clean the jets.

What could be wrong with the cabbrator on a 1988 Chevy silverado

It's a rochester carb most likely, and any number of things could be wrong.
Most common issue is clogged jets/needles or a sticking float in the bowl or choke issues.
You can fine rebuilt units on or
Price is decent and I believe they have a warranty too.

How do you set the idle

There are all kinds of adjustments on that vehicle. Also, it depends on which carburetor it is equipped with. That vehicle came with a Rochester 2-barrel carb, a Rochester Quadrajet carb, or a Holley 4- barrel carb. There is not enough time or space to post all of the information about this here. I would recommend going to and subscribing to the service information for your vehicle for a small annual fee, or purchacing a manual like Chilton or Haynes.

have an accredited service shop do a carby check as it could be a float level to high, incorrect mixture adjustment or power valve /pump incorrectly fitted
black smoke is excessive fuel and a rebuilt carby, if done by a DIY, is always suspect

My 1986 GMC Vandura With a 305 and rochester Q Jet Idles Rich and after it warms up looses power and floods out stalling where ever it feels like. Please Help,

Possibly a hole in the float . ( carburator) You'll have to take the carb apart and remove the float. Shake it and see if there is gas in it. If it's not a brass float, you may just need to adjust it, and clean the carb.
