ALSO THE AIR PUMP CONTROL VALVE COULD BE BAD. THIS COULD ALLOW WATER TO GET INTO THE AIR VALVE ALSO CAUSING BACK PRESSURE

My 1997 540i bmw is still overheating after a replaced water pump and radiator and thermostat. What now. Also heater is blowing cold air.

You m?y have a blown head gasket letting exaust into the cooling system. The pump cannot push exaust. Try a liquid head gasket sealer before replacing gasket. But first open the radiator cap and start the engine. Watch for the coolant to bubble. Top engine and add coolant or water. Some times after doing work on a cooling system you may get air in the system and need to *burp* the systems.

Pressure from the water bottle in the morning at startup

It sounds like you have a leaking engine cylinder head gasket, the combustion gas causes the coolant tank to pressurize and that is what you see.

Bmw 525i leaks water

Have a coolant system pressure test done to find the leak if external. Have a compression test done to check for head gasket or cracked head

Oil mixing water

Could be a blown head gasket, intake gasket....whatever it is, it isn't a simple fix...
You'll need to take it to a BMW shop or reputable shop and have a pressure test done.
Good Luck

Bmw 5 series 1998 (R) 523i water problem temp gauge hit red water coming out of radiator upon inspection every water pipe was rock solid of pressure !!!!! (PLEASE HELP)

you wont like me if i do? oh well nobody like me anyhow!
if the water jaket built up this much presher its likley to be a stuck thermostat or a blown head gasket,,,,to test for this,, have a "sniffer test" done they take some water out the water jaket and test it to see if it has any hydrocarbons in it,, if it has then its the head gasket poped or a cracked head!
this test takes no longer than 30 seconds to do,,,even stoping for tea!
if you fit a new thermostat first,,,, blead the air out the water jaket as well ,,,,,,,then if it boiles up,,,,its the head gasket?
see,,,you hate me now!!!! dont yer?

  • SOUNDS LIKE YOU NEED A HEAD JOB. CRACKED HEAD OR NEED A HEAD GASKET. CHECK YOUR ENGINE OIL IF IT HAS WATER IN IT OR IF WATER IS LEAKING OUT OF TAIL MUFFLER ITS A CRACKED HEAD. IF NOT ITS HEAD GASKET. ANOTHER THING WHICH COULD BE IS FIRST MAKE SURE THAT THE WATER PUMP IS NOT LEAKING WATER CUZ IF IT IS THEN IT WILL BE THAT. SOMETIMES RUNNING YOUR VEHICLE WITH A BROKE WATER PUMP HEATS UP ENGINE CAUSING HEADS TO CRACK WHEN FILLING WITH WATER BUT USUALLY THE HEAD GASKET GOES FIRST. HOPE THIS HELPS.

Driving my bmw e39 535i temp all fine accelerated up hill blew radiator top hose off and removed radiator to find bottom of rad also expanded now put another rad in but after 2 mins of running top hose is...

your cars radiator hose is building excessive pressure because the coolant / water could not circulate freely on your cooling system thats why its overheating, try removing the thermostat valve first and observe if it makes a difference, if problem is the same it could be the water pump is the culprit. try eliminating the easy things and less expensive approach first before deciding to top overhaul the engine of your car. a broken head gasket is not enough reason wont blow off your top radiator hose.

I have a BMW 2000 316 Ci that has been using a lot of water. My mechanic had it at the weekend and replaced a hose near the head gasket but it still has the same problem, it however is not overheating

have coolant system pressure test.what they do is pressurize your coolant.about 14 psi look in radiator for bubbles if so you have head gasket leak. or they drain oil out leave drain plug out to see if coolant come out crank case.that also means leaking head gasket or intake gasket.they will look for leaks around radiator +all hoses.look at water pump gasket weep hole.for leaks also check engine core plugs for leaks.they will make sure you have 50% coolant and 50% water .if you have too much water.it will evaporate away.
