What codes do you have ? Doesn't necessarily mean mass air flow sensor is bad , could be circuit problem !

It might but what exactly are the codes. Before you change the Mass air flow sensor, try cleaning it first with a can of mass flow cleaner.
If your running a oil K&N filter, there could be some oil residue on the sensor. Start with that and change the filter or clean it if it's a K&N.
The O2 sensor's could be bad also, you really need the code's to be sure what sensor is giving you the faulty signal.
Good luck and hope this helps.

SOURCE: 000 NISSAN Xterra -- after warming up, loses RPM by 500-1000..... have replaced ignition wires and distributor, checked mass air flow sensor and OK.....

I had a problem on my Nissan Xterra 2000. Symptons sound similar. In my case, it ran fine for a while and then suddenly the engine starts to stumble and lose output. At one point it did not even have enough HP to move. Irregular idling too. Thought it was water in my fuel. Bought water remover from the store and added to gas tank. Problem did not go away. Instead, "Service Engine Soon" light came on. Had to have it towed to the dealer as there was no way the engine could keep up with traffic. Dealer replaced the "Crank Position Sensor" today. Parts $33.00, Labor: $300 (about 3 hrs worth of work). Seems to work fine now but I will wait and see. Dealer also stated that Distributor bearing appears to be noisy and will need to be replaced sooner or later. I will wait for it to go before I fix that.

Ford Focus 2005 1.8 TDCI

When you step on the clutch, you are disconnecting the power flow to the transmission, and because the noise goes away when the transmission is disconnected from power,a bearing or bearings in the transmission may need replacing. Most likely a main shaft input bearing.BUT while the trans is out,the cost of changing ALL the bearings is not much more than changing one of them. Also,a good used trans would work too.

Changed 2005 ford focus tdci engine put in peugeo diesel in now wont start

Two very important things. The fuel shut off valve must be working.
You will need to find out how to bleed the air out of the fuel system.
