If you have no external leaks, no water in oil or white smoke from tailpipe, I'd check or change the thermostat, make sure the electric fan is coming on and if that's OK, have the radiator flow tested.

Bad thermostat, or cracked head. If it has been run hot, most likely the head is bad.

Car run hot what is the problem

First thing to check is probably a stuck thermostat. Then the water pump. Head leak. The price and ease of most thermostats is usually replaced first, then further troubleshooting if needed.

2003 mits galant, water drianing heavily on the passenger side floor board

That sounds like water leaking from your over flow tank? Is it coming from the area behind the glove box on the passenger side? If so, open the hood and take a look at the over flow tank. Is there any fluid in it? Is the hose going to the over flow tank healthy and without holes? Has it come unclipped or unfastened from the over flow tank? Has the tank itself cracked? Is your car over heating? You could have problems with your heater core. Is the water that is leaking hot? If your car is not registering as hot or over heating, and water is being sent to the over flow tank (because it is over heating) which is leaking or the hose has failed ect - then I would also suggest checking your thermostat to figure out why it is not registering the vehicle as hot?

Have changed the water pump, thermostat, radiator, radiator cap, all hoses. 2001 chevy venture, still running hot? How long does it take to bleed the cooling system?

If the system fills via an expansion tank, I would recommend removing the top hose from the radiator and filling the system by pouring the coolant in through the hose until it begins to flow out of the upper radiator port. Reconnect the hose and then fill the expansion tank. That should take care of it.

I have a chevy venture ,year 2000, the problem is ,the tempure gage goes all the way to hot and the cooling fans does not comes on, i am thinking that the termastat mabe bad. how can u help ?

Check you radiator fluid level. If it is below the fan temp sensor- it won't work. Look inside the rad and see if it is clean. You can remove the thermostat and plunge it briefly into hot water and watch it open/ then in to the freezer and watch it close.

Also check your engine oil for signs of coolant in there (headgasket) and check the over flow tank see if it looks blown out or it's cap is missing.(signs of real trouble) Then squirt a hose thru the radiator from the front of the car and see if any gets thru the front. It may have some road debris in there.

I just changed the water pump, thermostat, and flushed the heater core. I ran the car for a while with the surge tank cover off and kept filling it. As soon as I got on th e-way it overheated.

The surge tank should only have a little water in it, not full. I hope you didn't overfill it, this can cause your problem, but I would look at the radiator and make sure it is not plugged and your cooling fans, make sure they are running as well. Then last but not least your water pump may be bad even though you changed it, check for good flow through the radiator, if flow is good and strong then check the fans. You have already done most of what can be done, make sure the thermostat is not in backwards, in fact take it out and see if the car runs cooler, this will help pinpoint the issue also.

Not running hot but water coming back out of over flow

This is normal and may be due to overfilling the expansion tank.

Water was boiling and spraying from overflow / reservoir tank from what appears to be a factory made hole. was there a plug in there that might have rotted off and caused this?

well that mean that oone your thermostat is not opening or your water pump or possible that a hose might be collapsing to cause the water not to flow

Chevy 1500 Heater problem

It sound's like a problem with the water pump, thermostat, or drive-belt, drive-belt tensioner and pulley, check the tension on the drive-belt, if it has good tension check and or replace the thermostat, if your still having cold air coming out at low rpm's it could be a bad water pump. you can check the water pump by looking to see if there's coolant leaking from the weap hole, or listen for a squealing noise from the water pump when the vehicle is running, there's also a possibility of air in your cooling system which usually occur's when you have the coolant system opened up for repair's, if there is air in the system it could keep the coolant from flowing properly, only way to get it out is to bleed it out using the bleeder valve, im assuming the coolant level is at the proper level,
I hope this was helpful. Good luck.

Chevy Trucks, Blazers, S10 pickup and the like will vapor lock ecspecially the 2000 models. Do not tighten the gas cap past 1 click. There is a tube that runs from the top of the tank down and this gets hot and collapses or burns in half. We just bought a reinforced rubber tube cut it to lengh and use it instead of part and it's worked grat for 2 years so far.
