I have a 97 Chevy Lumina. It has 276,*** miles on it. I bought it used 4 months ago. It was running excellent then the service engine soon light, low coolant light, and change oil soon light started coming...

The fact that the oil was low would not be from the oil pump, but from wear in the engine. If it is not smoking when you start it or as you drive, you can probably keep it running by just keeping the oil level checked at each fuel fill-up. As for the car shutting off, you didn't say if the engine seized or got real hot. A low oil pressure problem should have triggered a warning light before the problem got to the point where you lost the engine.

If the car ran after you added the oil, you got lucky and need to always check it.

Reset oil change milage

GM OIL LIFE SYSTEM - RESETTING
The engine oil life monitor will indicate when to change the engine oil - usually between 5 000 km (3,000 miles) and 16 000 km (10,000 miles) since the last oil change. Under severe conditions, the "CHANGE OIL SOON" light may be displayed before 5 000 km (3,000 miles). The vehicle must not be driven more than 16 000 km (10,000 miles) or 12 months without an oil change.

Reset the oil life monitor when the oil has been changed, use the following procedure:
  1. Turn the ignition key to the RUN position.
  2. Fully push and release the accelerator pedal 3 times within 5 seconds.
  3. If the Change Oil Soon light flashes, the system is resetting.
  4. Start the vehicle.
  5. The oil life will change to 100%.
  6. If the Change Oil Soon light comes back on, the system has not reset. Repeat the procedure.

Change min fold intake gasket i have water in my oil caused by a broken water pump do you think head gasket gonna or my engine blew

im not going to say no but if you catch it fast enough. buy some extra quarts and run them through to clean out as much as you can run the engine till warmed up and get the clean oil washing out the white oil then change oil again then in 500 miles are so change it again you should be cleaned out. you can use a oil flush between the first startup warmup and oil change.that will help it clean out.but if youve been running for a while with white oil the bearings life are definately gone.as far as checking head gasket do a leakdown or compression check.

Low oil level light after changeing

Make SURE that it is full of oil. The sensor can get hung up especially if the oil isn't changed properly. Check the dipstick for hard deposits.
