Question about 1990 Lincoln Town Car

1 Answer

2 problems: 1) 1990 lincoln town car runs fine for 10-15min. Then starts shaking (like tire about to blow out but tires are fine or like water/trash in fuel, or not firing on all cylinders????). Also loses power on hills slowing significantly then gains speed on flat or down hill grades--slowly even though gas pedal almost top floor. If pull over & shut car off for min. or 2 then restart car runs fine again (even up hill) for a while then may or may not repeat this sequence depending on length of time I continue driving. I pulled & checked spark plugs & they appear fine. 2)" Check air suspension sys. " warning came on so I unhooked connectors in trunk (passengers side) as per owners manual thinking this would stop the pump from coming on & eliminate the warning; however, warning returns 15-20 min. after ea. restart of engine & pump turns on & off frequently. Any suggestions/reccommendations to solve these problems would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Don't know where to find it. I was told I should not mess with that since fuel injection systems are under pressure. If this is a simple DIY project please advise how to proceed. Also, I was advised to check spark plug wires when it turns dark which I plan on doing. However, in my limited auto mechanic experience, these problems seem to be things that would occur at all times during the driving experience not just intermittantly----NO?????

I have a Limo, a Lincoln Town Car, 120". What tire pressure should I run in the factory Michelin tires? The door plate says 32 PSI but that is before the car was chopped and extended. I've seen on

Two thoughts:
1; Your tires may not be correct for the vehicle. Look at the tire, get the ratings off of them, and look that up on the Michelin website. Your tires may not be able to handle the extra weight. The rating should be something like "Load Rating B" or something like that.
2: While looking at the tires, they should also tell you the minimum and maximum tire air pressure.

Lincoln Town Car 1996

sorry but there is no way we can know what has happened, a body shop is not a good choice for the wiring damage, they fix sheet metal not wiring, have the car towed to a dealer and get the wiring fixed there, then if u need body work have the BS finish the job. Sorry i can't be of more help here.

What is proper tire pressue for 2005 Lincoln town car

This is a driver preference issue the tire manufacturer always recomends higher air pressures because they want you to obtain optimum performance, the car company manufacturer recomends the tire pressure that will give the smoothest ride I prefer the middle of the two, tire companies 40 psi automobile companies 28 - 32 psi I recommend 36 psi all around front and back.

out of balance tires or a seperated cord inside the tire, have it checked ASAP, if the tire is starting to come undone it could blow out, any tire shop will check it for free.

I have a 1986 lincoln town car an it shakes when you hit about 15 throu 38 mph

These cars are known for there shutter problems when you get up into the miles. Could be many things. If it is only at those speeds i would think about getting the trans filter and fluid replaced. Like willis929 said check tires and wheel bearings. Other than that would need more information.
Hope you find the fix.
