Same problem with my 2003 Caravan. You need to bring the vehicle in and have the computer flashed. The transmission is gearing down at the wrong time. Having the dealer flash my computer still cost me $100 under warranty because of the deductible.

what large topic. and wow, not even a FUNCTION STATED
just the WHOLE PCM,.
no symptoms, no issues, just that.
not sure what engine you have there, and matters !!!
most PCM's relearn EVERYTHING after you pull the battery
connections or the PCM memory fuse. IOD fuse.

dont pull the battery, or lose radio passcodes. (bricks IT or NAV bricked, if opted)
lots of learn, paths.
fuel trim? ( does o automatically as does spark)
spark advance, and knock data?
transmissions all have learn mode, and do so automatically when reset.
now the last one, some cars, the TB (throttle ) body must be relearned, some are auto learn others not.
aka: throttle by wire ,relearn.
did you replace something (my other shoe drops......)

did you first scan the PCM and see if there are issues.
if not, why not, why work blind>?

there are other learns

pedal position relearn, omg.
Sentry Key "Customer Learn" Mode
transmission quick learn or drive learn (read the FSM yet?)

RTM? yet?

instrument cluster learn mode? Odometer?
At the garage door opener receiver (motor-head unit) in the garage, locate the 9learn9 or 9smart9 button.

Yes >> Replace the Throttle Body Assembly. Disconnect the Battery

No >> Go To 4
NOTE: Remove the jumper wire before continuing."

ill stop here, (i scanned the whole FSM for you on LEARN)
these newer cars the PCm .,BCM and other modules work on cooperative modes. Ill be the last to ever say , where learn data i stored, that i below my paygrade (retired and zero) LOL !

I have a 2002 dodge ram 1500 and a low speeds around 20 mph, if I let off the gas before it shifts into 3rd gear it will clunk into gear? I replaced trans fluid, plugs, throttle sensor, solenoid pack, and...

Did you check the universal joints. Then try a transmission shop if you think it's the trany. Should not be shifting into 3rd at 20 mph for one thing

I have a 2001 durango .I just did a filter and fluid change on transmission and now it wont go in any gear. Somebody told me that the vehicle had to relearn itself . How and is it true?

try this first, drop it into low, ( foot on the brake of course), and work your way up through the gears a few times slowly, repeat this a few times, see if that doesn't help, your ****** has air in the lines, and needs to work them out more than likely,

When coming to a stop my Dodge Ram 2005 wants to and at times stalls. While putting on the brake and just prior to stopping the RPMs drop and the truck will stall, sometimes if I let up on the brake and...

It could be caused by a throttle body issue or an EGR valve problem, but it sounds more like your transmission torque converter clutch may be locking up. This can be cause several reasons. I'll list the most common. First check your transmission fluid. If its low it can cause the torque converter to lock up at low speeds. Next, if the transmission is a 545RFE the problem could be caused by the trans filter leaking at the seal. You will need to drop the trans pan and inspect the seal. There is a round filter and a flat one. The seal is up in the transmission where the flat filter plugs into the transmission. A new filter from Dodge will come with a new seal. These are the two most common causes of torque converter lockup. Try and slip it into neutral when you come to a stop and see if it dies. May be more of an indication of a torque converter lockup condition if it does.

I would tell you to stop guessing and throwing parts on that you dont need. First have it scanned and see if there are any trouble codes. you need to replace the ALL the spark plugs, Use only Motorcraft or Autolite platinum spark plugs gapped properly. . Be careful as coils are a common weak item , and are about $95 each. the Idle Air Control (IAC) solenoids are common to go bad also (controls idle speed)

My Impalas tires stopped rotating when gas pedal is pushed down.

Could be but you may just be very low on transmission fluid. The proper way to check it will be printed on the dip stick if it's original. Be careful adding your transmission fluid, over filling your transmission can ruin it faster than running it to low on fluid. Between the min and max marks your transmission will take about 1/2 pint.

How do i reprogram the computer on my 2002 xl7

Try this relearn procedure hopefully it will help

Vehicles equipped with engine or transmission computers may require a relearn procedure after the vehicle battery is disconnected. Many vehicle computers memorize and store vehicle operation patterns for optimum driveability and performance. When the vehicle battery is disconnected, this memory is lost. The computer will use default data until new data from each key start is stored. As the computer memorizes vehicle operation for each new key start, driveability is restored. Vehicle computers may memorize vehicles operation patterns for 40 or more key starts. Customers often complain of driveability problems during the relearn stage because the vehicle acts differently then before being serviced. Depending on the type of vehicle and how it is equipped, the following complaints (driveability problems) may exist:

Harsh Or Poor Shift Quality
Rough Or Unstable Idle
Hesitation Or Stumble
Rich Or Lean Running
Poor Fuel Mileage

These symptoms and complaints should disappear after a number of drive cycles have been memorized. To reduce the possibility of complaints, after any service which requires battery power to be disconnected, vehicle should be road tested.

Vehicle Preparation

Ensure all components are connected. Ensure transmission fluid level is correct. Warm engine to normal operating temperature. If vehicle has been repaired, perform KOEO and Continuous Memory Code Self-Test and ensure fault codes are not present.

Computer Relearn Procedures

Idle Relearn Procedure

Place automatic transmission in Park or manual transmission in Neutral position. Ensure the emergency brake has been set and all accessories are turned off. Start engine and bring to normal operating temperature. Allow manual transmission vehicle to idle in Neutral for one minute. Allow automatic transmission to idle in Neutral for one minute and then to idle in Drive for one minute. Once initial relearn is complete, process will be completed during normal driving. Always complete the procedure before returning the vehicle to the customer.

With transmission gear selector in Overdrive, moderately accelerate vehicle to 50 MPH for a minimum of 15 seconds. Transmission should be in 4th gear. While holding speed steady, lightly apply and release brake for about 5 seconds. Stop and park vehicle for a minimum of 20 seconds with transmission gear selector in Drive. Repeat procedure 5 times. Always complete the procedure before returning the vehicle to the customer.

Drive Cycle Test (E4OD)

With transmission gear selector in Drive, press Overdrive Cancel Switch (LED should light). Moderately accelerate vehicle to 40 MPH for a minimum of 15 seconds (30 seconds above 4000-ft. elevation) Transmission should be in 3rd gear. While holding speed steady, press Overdrive Cancel Switch (LED should go off) and accelerate from 40 MPH to 50 MPH. Transmission should shift from 3rd gear to 4th gear. Hold speed steady for 15 seconds. While holding speed steady, lightly apply and release brakes enough to turn brake lights on. Maintain 50 MPH for about 5 seconds. Stop vehicle for a minimum of 20 seconds with transmission gear selector in Drive. Repeat procedure 5 times. Always complete the procedure before returning the vehicle to the customer.

My chevy 5.3 idles low sometimes stalls at stops

Clean the throttle valve and the air bypass idle speed control valve, they get full of sludge and restrict air flow, this causes a low idle at times and the engine will stall, clean them by spraying carb spray into the throttle valve while the eng is running, have someone hold the idle high or it will stall, after using at least 1/2 can shut down and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, this clears the memory and allows the computer to relearn idle strategy, the computer willl take a few days to relearn the idle, maybe 30 miles of mixed driving.
