If the AC system is too too low or too high in system pressures, A safety switch interupts the power to the compressor to protect it. Have you system ck'd befor wasting time figuring out a wiring diagram that will end up telling you to have it ck'd at a shop. Good luck

I have a 02 lincoln ls . the air conditiong is not working . i took it to a local shop they check the compressor, fuses, relays, pressure swithches, all is checcking out good. They jump the compressor...

YOU COULD HAVE OPEN OR SHORT IN THE BLACK YELLOW WIRE GOING TO AC COMPRESSOR CYCLING PRESSURE SWITCH. CHECK FOR A SHORT OR OPEN IN RED YELLOW WIRES AT THE AC PRESSURE CUTOFF SWITCH. USE VOLT METER AND CHECK FOR VOLTAGE AT BOTH SWITCHES. PROBLEM COULD BE IN THE EATC MODULE THAT SEND POWER TO PURPLE WIRE THAT FEEDS THE AC PRESSURE CUTOFF SWITCH AND AC CLUTCH CYCLING PRESSURE SWITCH THEN FEEDS THE AC COMPRESSOR CLUTCH SOLENOID.

I have a 1991 chevy truck if you push the ac button the clutch will not start ,but you can hot wire the clutch an than it work please help thanks

The fuse is blown on that circuit or you have a bad switch. I would of course check the fuse first.

Thanks for your visit today.

1986 chevy S10 has no power (12v) at fuse box on the fuse for ac clutch. checked both sides of fuse to ground 00v. ac/heater fuse 12v both sides (fan) works fine

hello, check all fuses, and relays, make sure wires to ac is not broke or has been pinched, sometimes you can run hot wire from battery, to compressor, touch hot side of plug in on comp wire see if it will kick on, if so sounds like a short, if compressor dont kick on with hot wire run to it, tap the out side of comp clutch and see if it kicks on, these compressors will not kick on any way if they are low on freon, once freon is full it should work.

1999 chev silverado a/c compressor won't kick in, what could cause this? it is charged correct.

Compressor clutch winding could be bad or the pressure switch which completes the circuit to engage the a/c clutch....also check the fuse.
If you have the compressor mounted down low on the front pass side.....check to see if the belt is there.
That mounting position uses a separate small belt and the idler bearing sometimes seizes up and throws the belt.(hard to see)
TIP.Add your own power to the clutch wiring or jump the pressure switch to check circuits and A/C clutch.

Hello,

I have something you can check. The system has a low coolant safety usually plugged in about midway of the coolant reservoir. There will also be a plug above that one for the high coolant safety. If the mechanic let too much freon out of the system when he changed the motor the safety will not allow your clutch to kick in or send power to the relay. The way you can check this is to unplug it from the reservoir and take a straight wire and jump across the plug. If the clutch kicks in when you do this that's your problem. I would only do this to test it then take the wire out. You don't want to run it with the low coolant jumped out for too long.

I hope this helps and have a great weekend

Has anyone fixed this problem

wonder why it doesn't blow a fuse? follow the wires that get hot all the way back to power and ground yes wiring diagram would help you say clutch doesn't kick on or off, it pretty much has to be engaged or disengaged, prolly engaged if wires getting hot. if a/c blows cold, it's engaged.try unplugging compressor or removing belt or both and see if vehicle operates ok without it, then you know where to start

Cluthch for AC

power to the clutch went to a lot of parts.

you can trace the power from the fan blower switch, then to the ac switch, then to the pressure switch then to the relay.

ow i forgot, the power source fuse is the first to check also. the fan fuse is different from the compressor fuse. pls check them both.

tnx 4 using fixya,
