I have had my car for a year, and I notice that in the hotter months, it starts to surge. a guy at an auto parts shop ran the check engine test and it came up with multiple possibilities of what the problem is. Is there an easier way to find out what the problem is without spending a ton of money?
It is an older car and it sounds like its surging when using ac as it does use up more power/ volts I'd stop in at advanced auto Napa etc and if really worried about it buy code reader 110$ will read codes and narrow down probs, I'm thinking its just because its older car and ac on using more volts etc good luck
I do not have an answer but this is my experience (2002 Spectra):
When the A/C is on, and I'm stopped at a light, I have to keep my foot on the brake or the car will surge.
I stopped by the Kia dealer's service department and was told, "It's the nature of the beast."
Biggest line of bull I've ever heard from a service department.
Haven't had the problem in the past year because it looks like my A/C compressor died. Whenever I try to turn on the A/C, the belt(s) squeal. One belt was changed; the other looks brand new.
Good luck!
To find answers to the problem ,we have to know the codes that were revealed in the scanner readings
anything else is a guess and that is what costs a ton of money
remember fault codes pin point the fault areas and eliminate the guess factor.
