2002 grand prix just died on me replace fuel filter and fuelpump cleaned all sencer what to do next fuel pump working
Generally when you have replaced all these parts and the vehicle still will not start the V.A.T.S. is a likely candidate to address. The vehicle anti-theft system has its own flaws and is a problem with the vehicles not starting. First make sure the chip on your key is clean and free of debris or corrosion. Try and start the vehicle after cleaning. If it still won't start, try your spare key and make sure the chip in the key is clean also. Many times this will allow the vehicle to start. If you security light is on all the time, the VATS module may have to be replaced. This means a trip to a dealer and $500 dollars to get this GM gem replaced. I hope cleaning your key or trying your spare key fixes the problem. You may also try to just replace the ignition switch to see if the this fixes the problem.
Did you check to see if it has spark at the plug wires ? Possible crankshaft position sensor ! Are the fuel injectors being commanded on by the PCM ? Did you check for fuel pressure with a fuel pressure gauge ? Just because you hear fuel pump running does not mean fuel is getting to the injectors ! Did you have the engine sensors data checked with a scan tool ? Mass air flow sensor !

It was the Cat. Converter on mine, Don't drive it like that too long as it will send exhaust back through the EGR Valve and burn a hole in the Intake Plenum....

SOURCE: Need to know how to replace fuel pump on 2002
You don't need to drop the tank to replace the fuel pump.
Under the carpet in the trunk there is a access cover that you can take off to access the pump. You need a good snap ring pliers to get the snap ring off to release the pump from the tank.
I wish people would have first hand knowledge of the process before they start clicking post and cost a person a lot of money and time for something that isn't needed to be done to complete the job.

Known GTP problem.
You most likely have a bad fuel pump resistor, which controls 2 speeds of the fuel pump.
To check to see if this is the problem, there is a trick you can do and its very easy to do. Go to the attached link, and bend the tab my finger is pointing at and then plug it back in. If your car starts and runs fine, well we just solved the problem.
