Question about 1996 Buick Century
One of two problems. Window motor or window regulator. Began by removing the door panel. Peel down the vapor barrier. This will expose the motor, you will see three star screws, remove these and then remove the motor. Remove the plate and inspect the plastic plugs in the motor, if defective replace with plugs or ball bearings, pack with wheel bearing grease. If the motor is ok. Then remove the window regulator. Using a punch punchout the rivits using a 1/4 inch drill drill out the aluminum holding in the regulator and the glass. Replacw with 1/4 inch bolts and nuts.

I bought a Haynes workshop manual.
I tried to find a PDF manual on the Internet but failed. If anyone could guide me to a site I would appreciate it. Thanks

2 fuse boxes on cars , one under the hood near battery
And one above your left foot. Some older stupid cars british made hide them else where. Need not be fuse. But finding that out is testing the door itself removing the panel. For you to: Order the Haynes total strip and rebuild repair manual. Of great value.Exists for your model. Will pay back fast...

Many electric motors use a nylon gear strip for movement. As the nylon wears it slips and requires help to begin movement. Replacement of the actuator as a unit is probably going to be needed

The track guide that operates the window from the motor is damaged or has jumped track. Remove the inner door panel and operate the window and see which has happened. If it has jumped track check for missing or damaged guide retainers if it is damaged or broken replace it. Normally runs about $15 to $20 for the part. Now if the drive guide is not damaged and it is still not working the gear that drives it is damaged and you will need to replace the motor as this is pressed on and not user replaceable. Good Luck
