If You follow the hose from the top of the radiator to the engine, it will be attached to a fitting that is bolted to the top pf the block, usually with 2 bolts.
The thermostat is located under that fitting.
With the engine cool, open the radiator cap to make sure that pressure is released. Drain coolant to get it below the level of the thermostat. Disconnect the hose, unbolt the fitting, gently pry it up. and remove the old thermostat. Clean, install new one, gasket or sealer, bolt it back in, re-install the hose, add coolant, replace radiator cap start and check for leaks

I have 03 envoy so 6 cylinder change sparks plugs change oil p0300 GMC code check engine light blinking misfiring

engine misfiring can be either plugs ( changed) HT leads ( broken internally from pulling them off the plugs to do the change)and injector faults. Moving wires around to get to plugs.. If you have individual coil packs for the plugs then check that they have refitted correctly or the wires and connections for them are properly connected .. If all is ok then have a compression test done as low compression shows up as one of the reasons for random / multiple misfires (po300)

Can you tell me what the firing order is when looking at the motor of a 2005 GMC Envoy SLT 4.2?

Firing order is 1, 5, 3, 6, 2, 4. Number 1 cylinder is up front. Why would you need the firing order, this engine does not have plug wires, each plug has its own coil pack, each coil pack is controlled by the computer.

IM TRYING TO REPLACE THE THERMOSTAT ON MY 2004 ENVOY WHERE IS IT LOCATAED EXACTLY

The thermostat on this vehicle's In-line 6 cylinder engine is on the driver's side of the engine, below & behind the alternator. You have to remove the alternator to gain access to the thermostat housing. You also need to disconnect the battery before you remove the alternator to avoid sparks and shorts.

Most directions outline removal of the alternator to gain easy access to the hose clamps, bolts and housing of the thermostat. I have located a site that after free registration, has detailed instructions on how to do this job, and the link below that describes an easier method with photos. Check out:

Please tell me where locate the theromostat in

The thermostat is located inside the thermostat housing. To find it follow the upper radiator hose to the engine block.
Depending what size of engine you have the location is different.
The thermostat on this vehicle's (the Envoy & Trailblazer are essentially the same vehicle) In-line 6 cylinder engine is on the driver's side of the engine, below & behind the alternator.
If you have a V8 cylinder engine is in front of engine see the picture. Item 303 thermostat housing, 305 thermostat, and 304 thermostat gasket.

Replace thermostat on 2004 gmc envoy

The thermostat on this vehicle's (the Envoy & Trailblazer are essentially the same vehicle) In-line 6 cylinder engine is on the driver's side of the engine, below & behind the alternator. It is not found in the typical location (which may be for the 8 cylinder engine), in an answer above.

Most directions outline removal of the alternator to gain easy access to the hose clamps, bolts and housing of the thermostat. I have located a site that after free registration, has detailed instructions on how to do this job, and the link below that describes an easier method with photos. Check out:
