SOURCE: How to replace the headlights on my 2003 GMC envoy.

The headlights on the envoy are the easiest parts of the car to repair. You just pull the two tabs at the top of the headlights, screw out the bulb containers and you are good to go

SOURCE: battery removal on a 2004 GMC Envoy

The battery is on the right side behind the fuse box. You need a metric set to undo the 3 screws. Theres one that attaches to the body, one to the bar that goes along the top, and theres one on the left side below the vacuum hose and air induction. After you've taken out those three, you should lift the whole thing out(battery and shroud) together. It's hard to take the shroud off before you lift the battery out. After that, you have to pry the shoud off the battery. The two terminals in the back make it hard. Then just go to any auto parts store and they'll give you a new one.

SOURCE: Removing rear air suspension on GMC Envoy

Just behind right rear tire up in the wheel well. Air inlet is inside right rear quarter near the accessory inflator. Compressor runs 3 lines one for the accessory inflator and one for each air bag.
THere are also 2 sensors, one on each trailing arm that senses load and then raises and lowers accordingly.

SOURCE: how to remove the rear drum off a GMC W4500

This is a full floating axle. The drum and the hub come off together. The axle must be pulled by removing the bolts or nuts on the hub center. Then the large nuts behind it must be removed. Now the hub and drum assembly can be removed. If you've already done that and the drum still won't come off back off the brake adjuster as far as possible. A ridge of rust sometimes forms inside the lip of the drum that will keep it from sliding off until the shoes are backed off. Very worn shoes can also literally wear grooves into the drum and make it impossible to remove until the adjusters are backed all the way off. If everything is rusted solid and you can't get anything to move check with the owner and, if it's O.K. with him, take the sawsall or the torch and cut the lower part of the backing plate out of your way. Then cut the adjuster in half. Now the drum will come off.

1999 Jimmy with Envoy package. Driver side low beam is burned out. Replacement from GM is $1200.00. Can I use an after market system? If so, how do I locate and remove existing HID ballast?

1999 GMC Envoy w/ same problem - we removed the bumper then had easy access to the ballast (two bolts on top and one on the bottom if I remember correctly). For the bumper, there are two bolts visible on top, then two a bit lower just inside. Remove the 4 bolts then you pull the bumper forward to unlatch and remove it. When you put the bumper back on, insert the lower bolts first - otherwise it\'s a pain to get them back in correctly. For a temp fix we removed the ignigtor/bulb and ballast, took the wires going into the ballast (regular bulb wires) and connected a 9006 bulb. We removed the retainer from the ignigtor to hold the new bulb into place, it took some adjusting to get it set in place but it worked nicely. We will be putting new/aftermarket headlight assemblies in soon, but this fix only cost $25; it was a quick solution that took about 2 hours.
