SOURCE: My smart fortwo cdi engine
hi, i;ve never worked on one of these, but, it must have an electrical fuel pump. the easiest way to check this is to jack the car up and look up under the rear and near the fuel tank. these pumps are INLINE meaning FUEL PIPE IN THE CENTRE (IN) arrowed toward the engine and FUEL PIPE IN THE CENTRE (OUT). these have 2 conectins IGNITION FEED and GROUND. if you switch on ignition and NO FUEL. then NO IGNITION FEED / RELAY / BAD CONNECTION / NO EARTH / COMPLETE DISCONECTION / FUEL PUMP BLOCKED / FUEL PUMP (INTERNALALLY OPEN CIRCUIT pump needs replacing). i hope this has helped. gerry

Open the rear hatch. You must pull off the hatch panel. There you will see 2 bolts holding the motor in place. Remove the wiper arm and the nut under the cover first. Unplug the wires going to the motor. Then remove the 2 bolts to the wiper motor. Install motor with the bolts. Replug in the wires. Reinstall the hatch panel. Then you can reinstall the nut and cover. Reinstall wiper arm. Done.

2 small grills below wipers. Each has a slot the size if your key use key to give it a 1/4 turn then you can lift out the grill. One side has an airbox under the grill this will come out with a tug. Then you can reach backside of headlights

Does your car have an engine? Or is it all electric? Because this sounds like it's burning coolant. Or possibly venting hydrocloric gas.
